Problem loading into maps and ALT-Tabbing

So, I saw that this game was cheap and heard rather pleasant reviews, so I purchased three Red Orchestra Franchise copies and gave two to my two close mates. After an overnight download, I finally got to play it this morning (Approx. 14 hours before I posted this), and I noticed a rather long loadtime. I figured this was normal, and it was downloading the map like Arma would. Anyways, after multiple hours of gametime, I've noticed that one of my friends can get into a server within seconds. It still takes me... Anywhere from 5-10 minutes to get into a server. It also takes an extraordinary amount of time to recover from ALTTABBING, but I can just window mode and it's fine. Anyways, I've tried validating steam files, and defragging my harddrive, to restarting my pc. I haven't redownloaded it, if that helps any. But it really gets on my nerves that I actually spend more time loading into a map, than I do playing the actual map. Has anyone had this problem, and or fixed it, or know a fix?

So, I don't exactly think my specs would be much of an issue. (Plus, I know for a fact I have a better computer, specs and all, than my mate.)

laptop, huh? if you really want to have a shot at the game, i'd do a fresh install of the o.s. and all the drivers. get rid off all the crap that creeps in and bogs down a computer. i know it's a pain in the ass.
this game really doesn't like laptops with amd cpu's. esp. not with integrated graphics. you need that baby to be as clean as the day you bought it. with no b.s. running in the background at all.
are you real good with computers? have a friend who is? able to make this laptop a dedicated computer for games? or do you have to do work/school on it as well?

just looked into it further. don't look like too bad a computer. (sorry i called it a laptop) the integrated gpu fooled me. how long have you had it and can you afford a graphics card? i don't think you'll ever be happy with integrated, playing games. (not even sure if you have a slot and it's compatible with that cpu. i know nothing about the new integrated stuff except to avoid it right now)

I'm not very tech savvy, but it's actually pretty decent. All I really care about is joining servers sooner. I'm not gonna be playing Crysis or some ♥♥♥♥. And I'm not really looking into spending money for new hardware or whatever,

how long have you had the computer and how much crap have you let get downloaded onto it? the closer it is to what it was when you bought it the better.
you'll be hard pressed to run the game well with a $400 out the door computer. this game is a cpu hog! i spent half that on an amd cpu and the other half on a gtx560ti gpu. it runs the game pretty decent. what do you think you'll get with a whole computer for what i spent on cpu and gpu alone? see my point? it has to be squeaky-clean. fully optomized for noting but the game you want to run.
do you need this for school/work as well or can you make it dedicated to games?

... Then don't waste your time replying? What else am I supposed to do? I was having a problem, and had little to no clue how to fix it. I gave my spec's later on, but not at that moment.

Yeah, I kinda am cluess... Plus, the ALT-TAB problem wasn't big, as I figured out a fix for it. But my friend could load into a server about 15 times faster than I could, with a slightly less end PC. That's kinda why I requested help on a forums... I came here because I was having a problem, and was hoping to get help.
