Apostrophe and Tilde key

Lately when I'm playing RO2 and RS the apostrophe ( ' ) and the tilde key ( ` ) keep switching up. When I'm trying to type in words like you're, I'm and he's, the bloody console opens. Does anyone else have this problem?

I think it might be to do with the country the server's in, but I've no idea in honesty.

I do know that usually I use the Tilde Key to put apostrophes into text as a force of habit in RO2. Occasionally it brings up the console and I use the apostrophe key normally.

No idea, but I've often wondered.

It seems to switch them mid gameplay for me I guess. It could be a keyboard combination, RO uses shift and alt a lot (in default) so maybe it triggers some function that switches it. Gonna have a look at keyboard commands.

i know that windows switches up your keyboard patter from like german to an english keyboard when you press shift and alt at the same time

It seems shift and alt are indeed the issue. I went into a game and pressed both, which switched tilde and apostrophe up. However, later in the game things got weird again, and pressing both keys at the same time just didn't work anymore.

I should just rebind prone to Z or something, all the sprint to prone action is probably the thing causing these problems, although alt has really grown on me. :'(

Alt is my melee key / limonka cooking key, and I'm often sprinting when I press them.

Be sure to only have one keyboard layout that you use instead of multiple.

Also you can just desactivate the key combinaison to switch keyboard layout.

Disable the key combination in windows, make sure that you are currently on the correct layout though.

This bug also happens in Chivalry. Must be Unreal 3 related

It was actually CTRL+Shift that caused the issue. Changing the combination worked though, thanks!

For anyone wondering how on Win7:

1. Go to Control Panel (icons menu)
2. Click on Clock, Language, Region
3. Click on Language and Region
4. Click on Change keyboards or other input methods
5. Go to the Keyboards and Languages tab
6. Click on Modify Keyboards
7. Go to the Advanced key settings
8. Select the 'Between input languages' and press the 'Change Key Sequence' button
9. Change both to 'Not assigned'
10. Make sure to save

This is so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ annoying. I'm a lefty so I bind my movement keys to IJKL rather than WASD. The apostrophe key is in prime territory to bind to an actually useful action (often I use it for running). But alas, this game thinks it's the tilde and just brings up the console instead. I've tried everything mentioned about keyboard layouts etc., but nothing. :(

Go to:
Documents\My Games\RedOrchestra2\ROGame\Config
and find
ROInput.ini

Ctrl+F for console and edit your bind from there.
