Speak English Japan!

Remember how in RO2 when the germans and russians would speak english with just an accent? Why didint they make japan the same way?

Sometimes you see an enemy moveing in the bushes and you throw a couple rounds into the bushes. Your character would yell "enemy supressed" or "he's on our side idiot hold your fire" but since the japanese speak japanese i havent a clue whats going on. anyone got any tips?

between what i last posted and now i recognized the arty call and saved my life a few times. though im still unsure about the "nakama (something)" phrase. is it "a comrade is down" or "that's our comrade, dont shoot" (or something else) ?

Small tip:
Although I cant remeber exactly what is said with each quote, I've noticed "Yamenasai" or "Oi! Yamero!" being said. Both roughly mean "Stop it" in Japanese, so if you hear something like that you are possibly shooting at friendlies.

I would be nice if they where consistent and did English versions of the speech. A lot of the stuff I kinda want to hear. an above poster is correct that youll just figure it out but its a lot harder when its non European language.
ITs pretty strange then just decided not to. Think they did it so people would no say stupid ♥♥♥♥ like Asian people talking in a accent is offensive?

Well you'd always have the option not to hear it, just like in RO2.

In regards to "Immersion" that's subjective to the individual.

You may think it's good immersion to hear native voices..... for me, it's good immersion to feel like I am actually a part of the military force I am playing with..... in that we should all speak and understand the same language.

I don't speak German, Russian or Japanese..... so when I join one of those forces and they're all speaking a different language than what I personally know, it breaks the immersion, because I now feel like a foreigner amongst a foreign military force and having no clue what anybody is saying to one another.

So yeah.... kind of hard to feel immersed when I feel like a Canadian amongst a bunch of Germans or Russians or Japanese. I don't care about bad voice acting or accents, so long as I can understand what my team is saying in my own "Native" language, so that I feel "Native" to the team I am playing on.

The suggestion of "Just keep listening to them, you'll figure out the basics of what they're saying eventually" is crap..... that means I won't know if an MG, Sniper, Engineer, etc. are nearby until I'm killed a dozen times.... I won't know if there's a grenade nearby until I am blown up a few dozen times...... I won't know I'm killing a team mate until I kill them a few dozen times.

In this game, I don't have time to think about what is being said and to translate it in my mind.... I need to know exactly what's being said on the fly so I can react faster and help my team.

That's a pretty big disadvantage to the Japanese team and its players.... the US forces hear everything in English and can react accordingly in real time..... Japanese players end up not understanding a large chunk of what's being said (as there are few text messages for most of the communications) and go into the battle blind.

I would prefer to have the option of English voices like I have in RO2.

Subtitles would be a good compromise for people who really want to understand. I think if you play the game long enough though you'll get the hang of it.

I've been playing RO since its Mod days, and I still don't understand or know 98% of what's being said, beyond "Grenade" simply because it's similar in either language as it is in English.

Alright so i got a little experience with japanese Uhum anime lol. But to the point. Its hard to spell what everything means because of the japanese signs aka the "Kanji" and some weird letters.
But yeah sometimes when two japanese are in close proximity to each other one might say

"Daishobu ka?" Which roughly means "Are you alright?"
If you shot an american and you yell "yatta" Or "Yosh" means Hurray or yes! i got him.
And "Oi yamero kore wa mikasata" Means "stop it, its a teammate."
And "ike" means "run" or "go" but i dont think the they actually say that ingame though.
"nigero" means "run away" Basically to run away from danger of some sorts.
And you may also say "Shiine" if you shot an american which roughly means "Die!"
And i dont think many of you know what "Banzai" really means. its not Long live the emperor for a thousand years because that would be "Tenno heika banzai" Banzai is used today and back then as a means of cheering basically as we do here in the west "hurray"
And Ame-koh means "Cow-boys" if im not mistaken Since you might say if you spot someone which i think not many of players do. "Emericenjaro" is what japanese is in japanese. "Emericen shotto ja!" is basically "Americans over there!" More to come... hopefully.

I am Japanese and i like it this way but indeed for those guys who hate or dislike Japan/Japanese there should be an asian who speak engrish..lol.. though would hate to see Japanese speaking like americans. But that's just my opinion ;) no pressure

大丈夫か？daijoubu ka? means: Are you ok? mostly when you die you hear this or when you are heavily under fire..

おい、辞めろこいつは味方だ！Oi, yamero koitsu ha mikata da! means: Hey stop you fool he's an ally! the word saids itself..
辞めなさい！Yame nasai! means: Stop it! also this is obviously unless your brains are limited and don't understand what stop means..

やった！yatta! よし！yoshi! means: alright! and not hooray like blazin said..hooray is a yell while alright is more like roger and is an affirmation..

行け！ike! means: go for it! go!

逃げろ！nigero! means: Scram! / Run!

死ね！Shine! means: Die!

しくしょやれた！Shikusho yareta! means: Damn, i am hit!

しくしょ仲間をやれた！Shikusho nakama wo yareta! means: Dammit, they hit a friend/brother-in-arms/fellow soldier.. Nakama means actually friend but in WWII this had a slightly different meaning

お母さん/お母ちゃん！Okaasan/Okaachan! means: Mother! this you hear when you die it implicates that most of Japanese soldiers were only kids. Actually kids who already could shoot better than the US troops because the age for enlisting in US army was above 16.. while in Japan in the middle of the war and near the end of the defeating war it was starting at 15y.o

スナイパーだ！Sunaipa- da! means: Sniper!!

敵は近いだ！Teki ha chikai da! means: Enemy is close!

天皇陛下万歳！Tennou Heika Banzai! means: May the Emperor live thousand years! (is a war cry actually for raising self spirit and not a stupid suicide yell like some idiots claim here) This is only heared in Banzai mode didn't hear it after 10 kills..

突撃だ！Totsugeki da! means: Attack! (MY FAVOURITE PHRASE )

野蛮人！Yabanjin! means: Barbarian / savages (for the americans)

アメリカン野郎！Amerikan yarou! means: American dog! (great sentence here, didn't heared this one in Battlefield 1942/1943 or CoD WaW or MoH Pacific)
["Emericenjaro" is what japanese is in japanese] (dude seriously.. check your sources) Japanese in Japanese is Nihongo 日本語 That's why there is 日本 nihon/nippon written all over the place and soldiers..

アメーコウame-kou is a slangue for cowboys indeed but Yankees or Yanks is better since they all have the same meaning wich is again: Americans... ;)

The option of having subtitles at the bottom of the screen would be a nice compromise. I agree with Praxius, that I want to understand what they are saying, or I feel foreign. I have been playing since the release and I dont start to analyse what they are saying in the heat of a firefight, so I cannot recognize the contexts at all. If it was in English, I would 'just know'.

Oh man dont get me wrong i have nothing against Japan at all. Rather the other way around i would like to go to japan since i like your country and everything. But yeah i made some mistakes and im happy you pointed them out to me. And i meant like yatta you cheer because you shot an enemy so i didnt mean yoshi and yatta meant the same thing. But yeah as i said up there im happy you pointed it out to me since i really want to learn japanese and im planning to study it in school. But if you could, would be fun if you knew all the taunts the japanese are saying.

But since i've watched many anime series and stuff and have learned that way to i know how things are pronounced and everything.

And also you forgot to add
