Exploding flame tanks anyone?
One of the worst feelings is when you're holding down a position and you see the whisps of firey death fringing for your face, I hate the Flamethrower, it wrecks weekends. But I do enjoy it in the game it's only missing one feature... RAPID DECOMPRESHION... aka HUGE EXPLOSION. Why not have the Flamer cansister tanks explode when hit with bullets/granades? It would make me think twice about sprinting next to 4our gallons of napalm.

Because it's unrealistic. The mixtures used to create the flames are separated into the two separate tanks and only catch flame when mixed while being fired.

If the tank is shot at in real life the user would really only be pushed forward by the gas. Exploding tanks are fiction, hate to break it to you... :(

Yep. This is another case of "Reality is unrealistic".

This.

Exploding flamethrower tanks is on par with exploding barrels in every other game. It just would not happen. Well, it can happen in theory. Yet all the right conditions would need to be present, and a certain chain of events would have to go off without a hitch.

In real life you dont get extra health points for running at someone yelling
This would be a amusing addition. id love it

Some features in the game are unrealistic to sort of depict real life situations.

The only way the tank would possibly explode/catch fire is if it was hit by a tracer round... even then I'm not sure if that would be enough.

This is not true. The fuel tanks contain gasoline, thickened gasoline or a gasoline-oil mixture. This is perfectly capable on its own, however, the propellant tank contains nitrogen or carbon dioxide. Because the fuel tank contains only inert gas and fuel, it cannot burn. What's mixed when fired is the oxygen in the air and the fuel stream. That burns quite nicely.

A building made out of wood will collapse if set on fire...

In real life, if the tank got shot it would lose pressure (I think that would be interesting to add) IF the tank rapidly lost pressure and there was a fire nearby (maybe, the player is still shooting flames) wouldnt the fuel source catch on fire? AFAIK they used Gasoline for the fuel and Nitrogen to propel the flames out of the weapon. There was no 'mixing' need in order to create flames. And the gas tank wasnt pressurized (the nitrogen was)
I think if a flamethrower unit gets shot in the back he should lose fuel, and thus the ability to use the weapon. If the player gets to close to fire, or attempts to fire the flamethrower while it's leaking, that player should catch on fire (and maybe a small area around him, for dramatic effect, and possible damage to teamates)
It would be interesting in gameplay, and could balance out the flamethrower class a bit more.
