telling between friend and foe should not BE THIS DIFFICULT!
why is it so hard to tell people apart in this game? the amount of times i died becase i hesitated to shoot from fear of killing teammates is imessurable.

in long range - where most fire fights will happen - the colors just fade and blend into this universal ickish brown color. the helmets lose most of their details so they all look like the round helm your team might be wearing.

in stalingrad it's even worse because the maps there are littered with dark corners and unlit buildings

sure you can still tell by their running animation (nazi/japan soldiers carry their weapon in one hand while running) and by their general location but when the fight becomes frantic or the enemy comes from an unexpected place, it's really really frustrating to die just because he looked like an ally.

and don't tell me that's realistc because it far from it, nazis have dark gray uniforms, russians have light brown, their helmets differ both in shape and color, same applies to the pasific front.

just for the record, in CoD: World at War, which had a similar setting, i never have problems telling between allies and enemies even at very long, and that game is 6 bloody years old.

is there a fix for this? tripwire planning to release a patch anytime soon?

I'll just quote:
"l2p scrub"

Don't hold your breath on a "fix" for this "problem".

it's not a major problem for most people. the sides in a given map are very different in looks but if you're having problems try and remember if in doubt do not fire.
This isnt COD you have to learn your enemies appearance and be sure to not pull the trigger unless you are sure its an enemy.
It takes time to learn.

Sounds like a personal problem. I almost never (99% of the time) have issues telling the difference. There is no "problem" that needs to be "fixed".

Also, it becomes much easier and practically instinct the more you play.

just because i play CoD you assume im some kind of idiot? i know how the enemy looks a i do not shoot friendlies.

the problem is that at long range the character models lose all their details and they look the same.
the reason i posed the thread is because i'v seen other people complaining about this but perhaps it's just a problem for people with old PC's

On long ranges characters doenst lose their models I havent seen that happen at once, maybe you are playing on the lowest settings? Im not sure but the problem is from you, try to memorize and learn your foes.

Others are complaining about this because they want to be pros in one day, this game takes a long time to learn its not a CS nor CoD nor anything else.
Why no radar? Like BF or COD, GET IT RIGHT TWI!!!

oh no i mentined CoD, now everyone here just assume im an idiot because i also play this game.
A. that's really pathetic, i expected better from a community that revolves around a realistc war shooter.
B. for the record there used to be a time when CoD was good, (1-5) and in all those games, even in the first 2003 game, enemies were easy enough to distiguish.

not because they had some flashy tag above their heads but because the uniforms were vastly different for each side, a nazi's unifrom should be dark gray, not brown when looking at him from a distance.

but hell, you don'r care, as soon as i mentioned CoD none of what i say matter, have fun being ponpous uptight jerks. that will surely attract more players to this dying game

Colors doesnt change from distance, what video settings are you playing on?
It takes a long time to get used to this game, I can tell you the difference between a German and a Red Army soldier from +200 meters away, the problem is from you.

Edit: Also Germans had many different type of uniforms, why they should only have to be dark gray? Thats not authentic imo TWI should add German camo uniforms as well.

i guess then the problem is for people who play on low setting... oh well...
that would make sense because i know what you mean, in the game even when im on the highest settings sometimes it can be hard to distiunguish a player due to being in the shadows in a dark map, possibly firing an enemy weapon, there has been times where i was very close to shooting a freindly and others where i did, sometimes i ddint shoot and it was an enemy. This is on the highest settings where you get a great amount of detail so i can see how the lack of detail in some cases can cause that, while i dont think its a problem, it can help you in other games with the awareness of your surroundings and where freindlies and enemies in many cases, it is a part of the learning curve thats in this game.
It can be hard to distinguish the two sometimes, even on the highest settings.
I had a pretty funny situation where an ally shot at me from some distance away. Since he was hidden inside a dark bunker I had doubts whether he was a friend or foe, so I shot a burst back near him. His second shot didn't miss.
I play on lowest settings and I don't have that problem.

As said before, experience and a bit of logic.
