The weapon models were sub par, even ROCA (a mod that was older) had better models than DH. Animations were bad, hand models reminded me of a FPS from 1999, muzzle flashes were excessive and reminded me of blanks being fired in some cheap Hollywood movie. It made you lose sight of your target often. The weapon sights were horrible on almost all weapons & blocked most of your view when aiming, which added to the muzzle flashes.
Maps were large, but had little atmosphere and a bit cookie cutter. Just a bunch of the same static objects scattered around to make a playable map. Again, ROCA had amazing maps, especially for being a mod.
Karlovka
Jucha
Donnets
Barashka
Rostov
Danzig
All immersive and detailed maps. Many of RO1's maps came from ROCA.
DH was a mod too and had the background of RO1 and ROCA to look upon, so you think the mod team could have gotten something pretty nice. ROCA was a mod of UT2003/4 so they did a pile of work as a mod team to make what DH worked off of. Most of the weapons, mechanics, gameplay etc. Were all there and existing for the DH team to build upon, yet the mod ended up looking cheap, especially graphic-wise.
I know they put a lot of work into the mod, and I know a lot of people liked the mod, but I felt like I went back in time and was playing a slightly updated Medal of Honour: Allied Assault.
What DH had going for it was Quantity, but little quality.
Seriously, Canadian Forces with American Accents?
Good counter argument
