The Mg42 at least saw action in Stalingrad even though it was the end of the Stalingrad conflict.
The G43 did not. It came a full year after the MG42.
@OP have you tried the SVT? It's basically the G41 but with faster reloads
The PPS-42 were issued to the men in Stalingrad after the German 6th army surrendered.
The PPS-42 was added because it filled a niche the Russians lacked. A mid range automatic weapon. It also doesn't run out of ammo nearly as fast. With the PPSH I usually have to pick up another weapon because I've run out of ammo.
Adding the G43 would just be a flat upgrade to the G41. Not filling a niche at all. Even the MG42 wasn't a flat upgrade to the MG34. It would essentially be like making the SVT-40 standard for the Germans.
AVT was exceedingly rare throughout the war and firing it full-auto would likely break it. Nevermind the scope you get for the thing.
PPS-42 would have been exceedingly rare anywhere outside on Leningrad, and the one you get in-game doesn't even come default with its stock.
Other than that I agree with your points about the G43
...Mind you, adding more to the Germans would make sense if preparing for some Western Front action - well, a guy can dream :)
There was this whole thread on the MKBs availability in Stalingrad. All sorts of images and German supply documentation was presented and it was determined that yes a couple of hundred MKBs in November of 1942 were put to use in Stalingrad. Over 1000 were field tested at the same time in various places on the eastern front. By early 1943 there were 11,000 around the place.
The problem with the MKB is that even if it was at Stalingrad it was in so few numbers that its current availability in-game is ludicrous. I see more MKBs than I do MP40s -- and that, IMO is unacceptable. Especially seeing the laughable scop + bayo versions. There should be a MAX of 1 MKB and ONLY on the German team (without scope or bayo also). TWI also ought to remove the C96 schnell-thingy, MP40||, and PPS-42 from stock maps entirely. MG42 and AVT should also have a max of 1 unit for their respective teams. PPSh should come standard with select fire and drum mag. If all these things were implemented not only would the game be more realistic, but also more balanced.
Unfortunately, TWI wanted to pander to COD kids and add in a bunch of time-traveling guns that serve no purpose but to bolster the already awful unlock system. So yeah, that's why I don't really wanna see a G43.
Yes and no. You can download the editor from your tools menu in library without needed to buy. But without the game with won't come with the assets.
However with the demo it may come with all of them. Or at least some of them.
Another point is that mappers should be able to choose what kind of weapons are available on their maps depending on the setting, adding the g43 would widen the potential for expanding into other battles of the east, just as adding more tanks would.
That again is something I think I read about the core class system of the game. I think mods like IMO dont use the leveling system so can chop and change guns with their classes, but the base game cant for some reason.
