It went independent and is now being done in Unreal 4. If it ever sees the light of day is another matter.

As if this game didn't have enough PTSD already ;D
Going indie and starting from scratch essentially killed it.
I see. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ idiots lol

With that said, game sounds badass in theory. Hope they have epic tunneling. Hide in trees to ambush fools or plant grenade in rice basket. Hope they do it right.

vietnam one was dead, buried, forgotten, resurrected, trying to be made, and lastly will most likely never see the light of day.

The Vietnam game is dead for many reasons. The main reason is it is still too close to home for many. As many such as myself are Vietnam veterans and still play these type games and hope for some reality as this is our adreniline rush as we grow older. For some can accept it, but for others not so much. And many vets who worked on it lost interest as the developers wanted the standard fantasy arcade type shooter over anything resembling what really happened. Imagine a veteran of Stalingrad German or Soviet looking at RO2 and what their opinion of that fantasy game would be as well. Wow we had all those weapons available, and I never saw them, how could that be, and the battles were 'balanced', and only lasted 40minutes, really.....................
Maybe in a few more years as the memories fade, and maybe if the 'players' understand the actual events it may resurface, but till then totally DEAD.

Its possibly more to do with small studios trying to do something and getting stung in the foot when it comes to long term budgeting and holding staff down etc...

Not everyone is 65 years old and america ist the only country in the world. A conflict that is merely 40 years old that happened pretty much just between the US and North veitnam isn't the reason why its not going to see the light of day lol.

The fact that the developers aren't doing anything is the reason.

Market forces drive these games, and military themed games ebb and flow with the times. The actual 'Fantasy' games are more neutral so can make money where military games tend to be niche driven and less profitable.

OK then another country and developer design and make it up then. Pretty simple but it won't happen even 1C backed out of a simular project. You really do not understand the American mindset do you. Political correctness drives damn near everything, and if it declared 'not popular' you do not try and swim upstream, nature of business in the US. Vietnam is a hot button in America and no one is going to be the one to somehow make that conflict 'popular' here in the US, nature of the beast. Other Vietnam themed games from the old Commadore 64/SSi Vietnam to today's Vietnam 65 share the same fate.

Purely by the amount of skill and dedication required.
IRDCAM May 7, 2015 @ 1:36pm
Really...the terrain is really no different than RS, the weapons models are very simular to the MG34 (M60) for example, MKb42 to the AK, it is no one wants to be the 'one', until it is safe politically and business wise. Yes you all over the world are fascinated, in the US not so much, a scar people want to forget..

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Vietnam_War_video_games

Here is a list of Vietnam war themed video games. You can clearly see big names like two Battlefield games having tackled the setting and there was basically no fuss about it.

This is you personally and some people in your generation, which are for the most part not at all the target audience for video games. Doesn't mean I want to belittle your experience, far from it, or in any way claim you shouldn't play video games but you are projecting here and not even close to representing any kind of majority.

That being said, I hope the game still comes out and if it doesn't it's probably a money/resources issue rather than anything else.
