Just bought game and got VAC banned. Can using a video recording tool cause this?

I just bought this game and wanted to post some videos for youtube. As I am recording the game it shows I just got VAC banned and can no longer play the game I just bought. I only have the video recording tool and another tool to show my FPS during gameplay. What is happening?

Punkbuster and VAC are completely independent from each other. You can get a PB ban without getting a VAC ban and you can get a VAC ban without getting a PB ban.

Punkbuster had absolutely nothing to do with the VAC ban.

Steam support also doesn't care how you got banned. They assume you lie and they are not obliged to find out and tell you how you were banned. Steam support is pretty bad. EA support seems like you are talking to the most helpful people in the world compared to steam support.

They just use both as they both pick up hacks that the other doesn't detect. Its just that punkbuster has issues. Though it still does the job.

great job...next "try-hacker" get a ban....i love this ;D .....and btw. never, NEVER a VAC ban will be reseted ! ...so u can try what u want....true is only one thing...u have bad programs (cheat engines etc.) on your pc and so u get a ban !

I also used Cheat Engine for a short period to disable the Fleet in Faster Than Light for example (didn't get banned though but I sure won't launch a VAC protected game on steam with a programm like this installed anymore ==> too risky)

I livestream using OBS... streaming software does not cause an issue. There's probably something you haven't told us

There are a bunch of other ways to disable the fleet in FTL lol. Cheat engine is probably the dumbest way to do it.

okay this maybe a stupid question but I am thinking of buying the game and if there is a remote chance that the op is not lying then can I be banned for using Nvidia Shadowplay? which for those who may not know runs everytime you start a game and streams and/or records the past 5 mins (or whatever time is set) which you can save anytime. It also shows a record icon and a fps counter at the right bottom of the screen.

2nd question :- is the mp for this game active enough or should I only expect to get a good campaign out of it?

well i have cheat engine installed and i didn't get banned, i can have it running and not getting a ban, but u will be banned when u r dumb enough to try work with it on a running multiplayer game/ or trying to acces the app memory
