Install size
Ok so I have the digital deluxe version of Red Orchestra that is a 30GB install (10 for single player, 20GB for multiplayer) if I buy this does it simply unlock the classes for Rising Storm maps or does it give me a new install and how big is that seeing as RO and RS say min requirement is 8GB(significantly less than 30!)

Can anybody tell me exactly the space taken up by their install?

The download is bigger than the amount of space taken up on disk. Weird but its what happens.

i was looking at size on disk and it sad 21gb i was thinking maybe something had been left over from the days that the single player and multi shared the same install location. The redownload is a 20gb download so here's hoping...:D i'm on a 500 gb laptop and every bit of space counts.

sorry 9.8 gb download, selecting it and hitting install claims i need 21GB free. I'll ait and see what the final size on disk is.

No, the download is smaller. The download is about 9 GB while the space taken up on the disk is about 21 GB.

Yup that's what I'm seeing, it takes up 21GB on the drive. Thats ok I just wanted to make sure thats what it was supposed to be (steam store page being different and all) I didn't have to redownload it though now... :(

I have Red Orchestra 2 with the free content of the expansion. It seems like everytime I downloaded it a couple of days later a patch or update would come out and I would have to redownload the whole game over again. Patches, updates and free content are all great but the patching system on this game is terrible. It killed this game for me. I had started the download again and got about 400 Mb when I decided it wasn't worth it. When I deleted local content it freed up 40 GB on my hd! This thing was taking up this huge chunk and I was only able to play it a few times.

I had this with a few games, it appears the whole game is redownloading but looks like it's actrually performing a verify and downloads the patch and missing data. I get this with Payday 2 a bunch. Even though it says 20GB it actually only downloads 300mb for patch etc. It does alocate the size of the full game for the temp folder, I think all steam games when downloading a patch alocate the exact size of the game in temp.

In that case it would make sense to clear 40GB - 20GB installed, 20GB set aside in the download temp folder. It shold only have downloaded the patch though after it verified (which can take awhile depending on the size of th3e game and RO is meaty.)

But yup the game does have some bloat, I'm gonna guess it's down to the huge maps. I don't know what Payday 2's excuse is :p
