just start off on realism. you should catch on fast. just keep going for objectives(whether its defending or attacking) but make sure to use cover whenever possible. the longer your up running the more likely to get shot. i usually like to do short sprints and the prone behind cover, check for enemies then repeat

find a clan willing to train you if youe having difficulties mate theres a few out there more than willing to help you learn the ropes

Major VIK has some good advice there. Otherwise, just go play; the differences are not that significant.

I'd would stick to realism, you'll get used to it pretty fast.

It's always handy to go through the training missions, just to learn the controls.

It's really an amazing guide for new players and the creator did a remarkable job. It's a long read but of course you don't have to read it all(in one go).

Also, feel free to ask questions here on the forum. There are a lot of helpful and experienced players around here on a daily base.

Stick with it mate this is the first mp game I ever played and I thought there was something wrong with me when I first started out.
You will get better, just have to keep playing and die a lot of course.

I suggest you should play the defending side first since some 64 player maps are quite hard to attack for new players and you kinda end up getting frustrated rather than learning anything.

Realism is not the hardest, classic is.
Some admins even customise their servers to be even harder again...

To OP - make sure to read a guide or two on the game, 29th ID has a great Beginners Tips video posted that you can find in the Popular Guides section.
Realism is the way this game is supposed to be played, Arcade is a scaled-down, Classic is scaled-up.

Playing in realism is the best experience. When i started playing online i sucked as well. But in time u learn to enjoy the hard enviroment and its tactics. Trust me. Give it a better shot and play with rifleman until u are sure u mastered controls maps etc. And remember to avoid using rambo tactics. In red orchestra u need to crouch and cover and try your best not to let the enemy cu.
