So basically the type 99 hits much harder but accuracy took a hit because it was much shorter than the type 38.
I think I'll stick to my 38,I prefer being accurate. Thanks!
Type 38 has a faster bolt slightly.
Their accuracy is the same. In fact the 99 becomes more stable than the 38 when you unlock the monopod stand for the 99.
The muzzle velocity of the 38 is ever so slightly higher than the 99.
For me its the 99 all the way. I want to kill what I shoot one shot.
By the way,why do Type 99s have monopods installed in them,I dunno but,it seems pretty useless to have a monopod on an infantry rifle.
Because it seemed like a good idea at the time, I guess.
I like the Type 38 better myself. But I spend most of my time playing as the Mortarman, too.
Gonna be boring and technical, but Type 38 has the tightest shot grouping, flattest firing, fastest round and most potancy of all rifles in the game from what I remember. It also happens to be the least powerful rifle in the game.
Most of these bits are very minor when fighting under 50m though, and Rising Storm is not really too great for long range fights.
It does have the fastest round. But the 99 isn't actually that much slower.
38 Also has the least recoil. In fact when examined by US specialists it was the strongest in terms of firing mechanism strength rifle in the war. It could of handled a much bigger round. But they only put a 6.5mm round in there.
The 99 had AA sites which were pretty much useless unless there's lots firing at one plane. And yes they made a monopod for it as well. For stable fire at long ranges. There was also a sniper variant but the type 97 sniper rifle (essentially a type 38 with a scope on it) was used more often.
Ugh! Was very tired and could have explained that better. As Flanker-37 mentions using the data from the gamre files the 38 has the highest ballistic coefficient of any rifle in the game, both eastern front and far east. From what I can tell it retains the shot power over longer distances, but as many have said you are not really going to notice this in Rising Storm's small maps. Correct me if I'm wrong with that though.
Bullet speed is something I will argue about, but mainly with the sniper rifles as personally I find the Type 97 up to 100m hits more or less where I aim it while I need to lead the target slightly with the type 99.
The only time I've noticed a massive differance between the 99 and the 38/97 is on the custom map "Stream" where there is a point where I can snipe Americans from 250m. Type 97 can hit easily, though I mostly relied on bleed-outs, and the Type 99 was annoying compansating for round speed, spread and bullet drop.
