RO2 while more fillled with eye candies, offers poor tank vs tank combat (tank vs inf is fine), full of BS ricochets and similiary senseless penetrations.
You can try to aim for weakspots, but even then, sometimes tank can sink in many shells in WT-style
But you can always angle your tank a little wich will usually make enemy rounds bouce off of your tank.
As for the frontal weakspots of russian tanks they are the turret rings or any other flat surface. (That applies for ap shells not for AT rifles)
And for the lighter version of the german tank it really depends where the enemy hits you since the added frontal armor can stop incoming rounds but smart enemy will shoot at drivers view port or the gunners view port in turret since there is no extra armor.
