If you empty a mag, instead of reloading, you can just switch to the other mag by pressing 6 (or when you're shooting and run out, you can just press mouse 1 to switch). You won't have to reload as often with out the dual mag. But, I think the reload speed is a little bit slower than having the single mag.

So, it just makes you have 64 rounds without reloading compared to the single mag of 32 rounds.

You get 2nd mag on your gun, so +1 clip to the default amount you get at your level and you can quickly change it, I think you reload right mag faster than left one but I don't use MP40 much nowadays as PPSH/MKB are kings. In real world disadvantage in reloading after running out of 2nd mag was too big for Germans to keep producing them, on top of increased weight compared to standard MP40.

It's basically 2 regular Mp40 mags in a modified MP40 version. If you press 6 you'll switch to the other one. So this way once you run out bullets in magazine, you can just switch to the next magazine by sliding it over and fire 32 more bullets. Keep in mind though that the reload will take a little bit to completely reload the gun (you can still reload each mag individually by pressing 6 to the empty one).

FYI you don't have to press 6 to switch to the second magazine when your first one runs out.
