The lvl50 kar 98 upgrade is kinda useless

I mean the only thing it does is removing part of your iron sight, so in some aspect even making your gun worse...

It gives you a clearer line of sight to what you are shooting at. I'd say that makes the sight better, not worse.
I found the "hood" obstructing my view a lot of times, so I'd be happy if I could remove them... but I never got to level 50 with the rifles...

Some people like the hood, some don't. It's based on personal preference, it isn't exactly useless.

You can always choose the lvl 25 kar98 if you don't like the lvl 50 one.
I do the that with the type 100, I don't like either the lvl 50 or the lvl25 version so I play with the lvl0 weapon.

No, the DP IMO is better than the level 0 MG-34/42. It has better damage, it doesn't overheat. The DP has about the same amount of ammo as both the level 0 MGs. The DP doesn't need any upgrades, it just gets outclassed by the MG-34/42's upgrades.

DP28 does overheat but it overheat a lot less than german machine guns.

I completely forgot that it does. But if I remember, you have to use all the ammo you have to overheat and you'll have shoot non stop to make it start to overheat, so, you'll have to resupply. More than likely the DP-28 will never break due to overheating.

I always prefered the hood. I found it a lot easier to track players with it (hit them while they are running). I leveled most guns to 50 and I always used the K98 with 0 upgrades.
