Steam vs Gog.
Which platform has the better versions of these games? I like GOG because it has a lot of older games and keeps them updated. I like steam because I have a ♥♥♥♥ ton of games on here.

Are the versions the same or is one better than the other?

Looks like Gog has the later, CD version. Which had better graphics and sound.

I usually buy the old games on GOG, I find they have better support and the games usually work without much problem.

That's what I was hearing, that gog had more with their versions. Think I'll get them there. Sadly the discount for May 4th is terrible. thought it would be higher.

It is what they are all about.

Better support for sure, better graphics pretty sure that the only difference is the voice overs and sound quality. iMuse from what I was told. Or maybe I misunderstood him.

Steam doesn't offer the 1994 Collector's CD-ROM edition, which is considered the best (And it is)

Uhhh...It's the Collector's CD-ROM edition.

There have been 2 collectors editions, the one wich nadersmith refers too is the 1994 'Collectors CD-ROM' edition. That was a CD-ROM based bundle of the former floppy disk based version of the 1993 X-Wing with all the expansion packs, graphics with gouraud shading ( a feature already introduced in the 2 floppy disk expansions) and voiceover for missions and briefings. This Collectors CD-Rom edition used the dynamic iMuse music system that delivers a great soundtrack. This version is not (yet) included in the Steam release.

The other Collectors edition is a 1998 rerelease of X-wing with all expansions, voiceovers and 3D accelerated graphics of the X-Wing vs. TieFighter Engine so it works on Windows 95. While graphicly superior it lacks the dynamic soundtrack and the cutscenes have been reedited (not good) and rerendered ( higher resolution). That looked superficially better back then, but didn't really stand the test of time compared the the pixel goodness of the old version.

Bottom line is ..the best X-Wing version would be the 1998 graphics with the 1994 iMuse and unedited cutscenes.

(OFF-TOPIC) Something about GOG, is how they don't have any system similar to Steam Wallet (Getting cards at a store, scratching with coin to get the code, type it, and get le money in the wallet

And it stopped recogpzing my keyboard. And another keyboard. Even a 16 button stick can't do all the commands. Im getting pretty unhappy with steam:steamsad:.
