XWVM Mod for X-Wing

XWVM is a mod to the original Star Wars: X-Wing game from Lucas Arts and Totally Games by Larry Holland and Edward Kilham. Our goal is to rebuild the game engine with newer technologies that allow it to run and make use of the latest hardware and improvements in gaming hardware. The mod will require the player to own and have installation of the original Star Wars: X-Wing game, or have the GOG or Steam versions of X-Wing Special Edition

I just visited the website, no date of release yet. It's taking a long time but these are guys working in their spare time for free in order to restore an old beloved game to playable status without losing the charm that made it great. I have to admit, the game looked a heck of a lot better on my old 13" CRT. Kinda wish I still had my old 486 just to run this and similar games on.

I believe in you guys. Had the opportunity to help, but just not the stage in life for me to delve into such things. Any amount of time is worth waiting for a reboot of my equal-favourite Star Wars flight sim.

The closest thing you can find is the TIE Fighter Total Conversion Mod (itself a mod of the X-Wing Alliance Upgrade project. Pretty marvelous graphics and I think they have a playable version. Just don't try playing it on old computers, it requires a modern gaming rig.
