Dirt Rally and SLRE are more sim than WRC5 but this game is fun, for a wider audience. However, I hope that, this new dev team (maybe with a new publisher) will go further on the simulation side for WRC6 and the others...
It's a half baked unpolished bug fest.
People like you and me are always eager for a new rally game, and end up buying anything released.
Save your money.
When did you last play it? 9 patches on PC since launch. I'm seeing no bugs personally. Even detected 3 separate USB controllers for my wheel/pedal/shifter setup... And triple screens.
On this point, I totally agree with you :)
Sad, funny, but true
Agree. How is it possible that G27 and key assignment is not working on the DEMO?
Its fun in WRC5 to pin it wide open in 6th gear and then slide into a Right/Left 3 corner and be able to pull out of it!!
Now that I think about it, WRC4 is pretty awesome and the sounds are really good. SLRE engine sounds are terrible (on some cars). :(
Still not able to really race - renovating house, so steering wheel (dfgt) is in a box - but with an xbox controller it works really well, perhaps the best controller support of all the current rally titles.
Its main flaw was the publisher hyping realism. Although it may not be a true rally sim, it seems to capture the rally sensation pretty well at the simcade level. Using cockpit view, no aids (well auto gear because I prefer that with a controller) driving a night stage is great.
Also the car damage / ware is prett good, you feel your tires and breaks loose their performance and sparing the car becomes part of the strategy.
General performance game performance is stable.
After inititally disliking it - poor dfgt support on release - I really appreciate it as a fun rally simcade experience.
RBR, DiRT 1-3, Dirt Rally, WRC3-4, SLRE, WRC5.
They all have their highlights, and some low points, but I don't regret any of these titles. They all offer good rally fun, even WRC3 & 4 after some tweaking.
Still not sure about the current Rally king - SLRE vs DR
DR is very solid, but SLRE might just be a little bit better as a full rally experience. To each his own and my view might change after more mileage.
To sum it up: Despite the better track layout, more cars and better graphics, SL Rally Evo is due to its bugs (that maybe get never fixed) no alternative to WRC 5 (as i'm not interested about hardcore simulations i don't care about Dirt Rally).
