What exactly does the ventilation error do?
It seems like every source tells me something different. What does the ventilation error do? Does it cause hallucinations, does it disable vent sealing, does it cause second long blackouts? I would appreciate answers. Thanks.
P.S. I heard somewhere on the internet that sealing vents cause hallucinations. Is this true?

From my understanding it sounds the alarm which speeds Springtrap up and you start to pass out, giving Springtrap more chances to scare you.

Im pretty sure it disables sealing, although i've never tried sealing a vent while it's disabled. It also causes the screen to black out at times.

Ventilation kills similiar to Chip's explamation well happened to me when I had to check the ventilation while Springtrap was giving me death stare but maybe it depends on range like I said similiar to Chip's explamation.

It doesn't make him move faster. It disables vent sealing and causes the screen to black out (like you said) giving him chances to move and kill if you're watching him in the window or door

I said it was similiar to Chip's explamation I wasn't convinced that it made him move faster just trying to clear some things up

Oh sorry :)

It triggers an alarm with a red light in the office, and then your screen fades in and out, as if your character is going to pass out.

Phone Dude himself suggested it would cause hallucinations, and he said it's the most important system of all.

But from my experience, I'm at least sure that when Springtrap is peeking from outside your door, and your ventilation is dead, he will attack the next time the screen fades in. It doesn't affect sealing vents, you can still do that even when your ventilation is down.

Oh, and it might trigger the puppet... You'd see him in Cam 08 standing in the hallway near the chica lantern, then the puppet will jumpscare (freeze) you for 10 seconds.

So, going with what faint said, it makes your screen fade black, giving chances for Springtrap to enter the office, and it (MIGHT) increase the chances of Ph. animatronics to appear

When the Ventilation is corrupted, it has an error, and needs to be maintaned VIA The maintenance panel.
Effects caused when Ventilation is corrupted are:
  • The screen will fade frequently, giving Spring-trap the perfect opportunity to enter the Office and kill you.
  • You cannot close vents whilst under the effects.
Ventilation errors are caused by Phantom Animatronics, and sealing off vents (rarely).

You should value maintaining your ventilation above everything else.
It should be like this:
-Ventilation
-Audio
-Camera

^ You can seal the vents, bro. I've done it lots of times, and it got me to survive the night.

BTW OP, the #1 thing it does is annoy the ♥♥♥♥ out of you because you can't see squat.

I may be wrong but I think all of the errors do that. I haven't had the game for very long though.
Well if you owned the game it would help.

It makes it harder for you to breathe (ingame) and Smoke comes out of vents (might be fire).

The ventilation error causes the following things:

The red lights will start going off, along with an alarm. I am not sure if this attracts
Springtrap.

You will start blacking out if you ignore the alarms, which gives springtrap a chance to kill
you if he is near your office.

You will start to hallucinate more, which obviously gives springtrap time to kill you.

You will sometimes see MULTIPLE SPRINGTRAPS in the cameras. Ex.: You're looking at
cam 10 and you see springtrap, while you are looking at him, you can see springtrap run
across your office. Sometimes you can even see 3!

Other than this, I haven't seen any other things it causes.

Uh hey, sorry for necroposting here, I might be breaking a lot of Steam Guidelines here, but does the ventilation error cause the sealed vents to become unsealed?
