How does Scott make the jumpscare sounds?

I mean, in the first game, the scream scares the living hell out of you. In the second, it sounds more horrifying and less like an animatronic and more like a demon that crawled out of hell to sing at a pizza place. In the third, they freaking hiss at you. The fourth scream will probably give me a heart attack. How does he do it anyway?
