I have both games on Win7-64bit OS. Their location on my machine is (C:) > Program Files (x86) > Steam > steamapps > common > Peggle [Nights or Deluxe] > bass.dll. Bass.dll looks like an audio driver file that may be corrupt or incomplete. If I got this error, I would delete this game from my Steam library, reinstall it, go to the Peggle folder again and try to start the game from the Peggle.exe app in the same folder. If it launches from there, it will likely start from Desktop or wherever you keep yr game icons. If not, the problem may be a conflict with yr comp audio drivers that might resolve by updating or rolling them back in Control Panel/Device Manager (after backing up the current system in case yr comp doesn't like the new ones.) Good luck.

copy steam.dll from steam folder into peggle folder and use in game exe in windows xp service pack 2 comp. and adm. rights. Start game and enjoy... it works for me

Found a solution. There is a bass.dll file under the Windows directory (C:\Windows\SysWOW64 in my case) that takes priority over the one in the Peggle game directory. I renamed the one in the windows directory, copied the bass.dll from the peggle directory to replace the windows version, and all my popcap games in steam work now.

Some good ideas above. Sounds like a conflict with your specific machine vs the audio driver(s) in the Steam version. You could try getting a retail (non-Steam) copy of Peggle to play on your comp, or see if your Steam Peggle will work on a different comp. Or maybe the conflict is just with the Turtle Beach; could you swap the sound only & see? Perhaps Peggle doesn't like turtles, or beaches....

hello
Solution here:

-Go into C:/Windows/SysWOW64
-There should be a single file called bass.dll
-Remove it
-Start the game
