Stage 4 Level 5 - TOKYO - W.T.F. ?!
Not enough that the "i feel like spawning and driving however i want" trains are the dominant thing in this stage, but how the hell can i do this? anyone got some hints? the urge of cheating is growing :/

You may start with four stations, but that doesn't mean you have to instantly connect four stations. Ideally, check the first train, and hope it only goes around one corner. Build that track (in pause mode), let the train drive while it's still building. Then build for the next train, etc.

As for the layout, you want a "square", with the corners inflated in size to accomodate the layout and avoid huge setdowns from construction prices. Red can be squeezed between purple to connect, green usually needs crossed lines for me to work and still leave space for light blue.

After that, concentration and the pause key are your friends.

Here is the layout I used when playing through Tokyo (ignore that eyesore intersection between red and purple; never quite got it working the way I wanted):

Traffic control is really important in this level. Because you can't stop the trains, you *really* have to pay attention to when you dispatch them and what direction you send them in (I found that sometimes it was easier to send several trains in the same direction around the loop even if it wasn't the most direct route).

Don't go crazy ordering up extra trains... deal with the ones that pop up on their own first. And as long as you don't let all your stations get full, it is okay to let one sit for a while if it's going off in a weird direction that messes with the rest of your routing.

Pause is your new best friend (if you haven't befriended it already). Make sure your track switches are in the right positions before you send out a train... I had to restart so many times because I forgot to check.

This is one of the most difficult and frustrating levels, for sure. Don't forget that you don't need to get all three stamps in one run to complete it. Try focusing on just one objective if you find yourself getting too overwhelmed by all three.

edit: lol... whoops. I guess that caption isn't very encouraging, is it?

My setup looks lilttle different from that one. There isn't much variation possible. The red "around" route should only be done if you can afford it.

I'd actually say don't order extra trains at all. They're not needed for this level, all trains give tons of money. Build your tracks one at a time, don't rush things, don't hurry trains out of their stations if you're not *sure* they're out without any problems on the way. Remember the ultra-fast bullet trains.

got it, thanks. it really is a hard level. my next headache was the germany-level with the berlin wall xD
HandmadeMonster Jul 14, 2016 @ 3:45am
The Berlin Wall level is one of my favorites. For me, it is the levels that I cannot pause (I cannot put my hand anywhere near the space bar because I press it reflexively now.) or stop trains... Baikonur was also really rough (especially with the blue and green stations placed the way they were, yuck)... but it had rockets and the ending made it all worth it :D

I've been trying for days to do this level. It won't let me make those little connections out of the stations, and without them this level is impossible. It's getting to the point where it's not fun anymore.
HandmadeMonster Jul 14, 2016 @ 8:08am
Little connections? Like the track switches, or you cannot connect the track itself to the station?

It is possible you ran into some sort of bug?
Grace1957 Jul 14, 2016 @ 8:31am
The little track connections you make from the station to the main track, where you usually have 1 that curves to the right and one to the left.I've never had a problem with these small connections before and without them this map is impossible.
HandmadeMonster Jul 14, 2016 @ 8:42am
Huh... is it flat-out not letting you place them? Is the angle too sharp to conenct to the main track? Or is too expensive to build the track where you want it?
Grace1957 Jul 14, 2016 @ 8:50am
It won't curve,it keeps trying to go straight.I know the little sharp ones are tricky but this is nuts. There are a few stations I just cannot connect to each other because of it.I think I need to walk away for a while.I wish there was a way to just skip certain levels.I know you can move on without stamps as long as you don't go bankrupt,I have done that once, but I can't even get to that point.I need a break.
HandmadeMonster Jul 14, 2016 @ 8:56am
Strange... When you try to place a track, do you see the green highlighted squares showing all of the possible placements? When you move your cursor into those squares, does it curve the track that way or does it stay straight?

I don't really know what's going on... the devs might be able to help out a bit more.

Thanks for trying to help.I think I just need a break for a while.

Yeah, stepping back for a litle bit is never a bad idea. Hopefully it works better when you get back at it :)

Hated this level and the next one. Even after I found the optimal patterns for them.
