Twisty Farms was indeed incredible. I tried it, didn't get it, went to work, thought about it during the day, went to bed, fell asleep, woke up after two hours, tried it once more, immediately succeeded, went to bed again, slept like a baby.
Thanks Stephen.
edit: 55 now, world 2 complete. Dat tower...
edit: 81. World 3 is a piece of work.
edit: 88. I'm on a roll!!
edit: 95. Cold Frustration is frustrating.
edit: 98. Cold Frustration is amazing.
edit: 101. Area 4 lookin' mighty fine.
edit: Area 4. Are you kidding me. Enough!
edit: Wretch's Retreat is killing me. Literally. I feel the life draining out of me.
edit: noooo. stupid me.
edit: 106. Baby steps, but getting there (hopefully)
edit: YES! Area 5, here I come.
edit: I beat the first stage of area 5. Yes, it's hard but it's still sooo fun.
edit: 116. I hope this never ends.
edit: 135. Saw the Jonathan Blow talk at Pax '16 where he also talked about this game. He showed his save file of the finished game: 215 sausages in the whole game!! I feel like Jon Snow, "i know nothing".
edit: "Crater" has been the most difficult level for me so far, probably because I didn't realize this was the first time you had to poke a sausage vertically Wow.
edit: 143. World 6. OMG This is suddenly a completely new game, isn't it??
edit: 174. I swear I am so gonna finish this thing and it's getting on my résumé.
edit: 201.
edit: Finished. I am a sausage now. Literally.
edit: also, the price discussion is IMHO completely obsolete. The amount of joy that players who like puzzle games get out of this game is insane.
beating the tower felt genuinely amazing
I wonder if we all used the same strategy:
First, I separated the tower into two 4-sausage towers, that had the same orientation. I then pushed all sausages into position and finally went around from the bottom left ladder to the upper right.
about the tower, I didn't split it into two separate towers, i pushed the full tower forward then knocked off the 3-height tower, then moved a 2-height tower onto the raised area, then split everything up into the right place.
I think I used a different method for the tower ? I managed to split everything intro four 2-sausages tower in the middle of the level, mainly by testing how sausages behave when in tower formation, then pushed everything in place
IDK, how did you do it?
webm of my solution: https://my.mixtape.moe/dqsxlu.webm
I cut off the ending of the solution because it was trivial after the part you see in the vid.
now i'm at 70
Yeah, thinking about it, you're definitely right. It's one of the "new mechanics by accident", like the Destructoid reviewer said :)
jag was one of the most interesting levels so far for me because the idea for me seemed that it was directly trying to show one idea at the start of the level, that blocked off sausage pairs let you walk over them normally, and then gives you the place to try that out. It took me a stupidly long time to see this, so it was interesting to see how simple it was.
how did you get 92 sausages in 7 hours, it's taken me 17 to get to that point
i am much slower than i thought, but oh well, maybe it's just because i haven't been able to just play it all at once
Hmm dunno, my brain works well with puzle games :D ? Played a lot of em since forever so I guess I'm used to it ? But I don't think you're particularly slow, this game is really hard but I feel like it just "thinks" the same way I do. People have different affinities with puzzle game, so it's normal some are faster or slower, especially with this kind of game.
Once you "get" how the game wants you to think, it'll become easier.
