Hidden mechanics for the game?
ok so I was stuck on a puzzle for a while because i didnt know that you could stab the sausage with the pitchfork. Are there any other hidden mechanics like that in this game or is it just that?

Yes, there are multiple other hidden mechanics.

No, you have to "un-stab" it first.

are they properly indroduced? because i don't want to spend like an hour on a puzzle just to realize that i couldn't solve it not because i couldn't figure it out but because i just didn't know you could do something

If memory serves, they are introduced as "roadblocks" in the overworld, where you have to use that mechanic to progress to a new set of levels by bridging a gap. However, it should be safe to assume that if you can't solve a puzzle with the mechanics you already know, you have to try something else. If you want, I can make a spoiler tagged list of the mechanics (that I remember).

EDIT: I just checked in-game, and to get to where you are now, you should have had to stab a sausage next to "The Great Tower" in the overworld, and then "un-stab" it to push it into place to cross a bridge to the third area of the game.

no need for the list, ill just watch a youtube video if things get too difficult, thanks though
As someone who used a lot of help towards the end, I think you should try to go without a guide, as this game is pretty subtle about its mechanics, but there are some incredible "a-ha" moments when you learn something new.

Oh yes, it's definitely a difficult game, but it's also very rewarding once you get the hang of it.

To flesk: This is not accurate; using a mechanic to move an overworld sausage is not the way the mechanic is introduced; each mechanic is introduced within levels first.

Couple of things:

1. In general, each area after the 1st one revolves around a single "mechanic" (a new thing you can do with the sausages, and all the implied associations/interactions between sausages and other in-game objects e.g. walls).
2. There is at least 1 level in the previous area that introduces the new mechanic. The new mechanic will be markedly different; you won't really be able to apply it elsewhere just yet. So for e.g. you'll find that you'll discover something in a certain single puzzle in area 2, but you won't really be able to use that thing anywhere else in that area. But you will need to remember that thing for the next part.
