What I'm not 100% clear on is the next part. When you say "on the host machine the controller is working, but it doesn't show up on the TV side" do you mean that the input from the controller connected to the Link is showing up properly on the Windows box (e.g. if you move the selection around in Big Picture, you see it change on the PC), but the change doesn't show up at all on the Link side? As opposed to "it doesn't work at all once I start streaming, but it works when I go and plug it into the PC directly."

If it's the first one -- that the input registers on the PC and you see the selection change, but it doesn't show up on the Link side -- that seems less a controller issue and more a "the stream has frozen" issue.

If you *aren't* using VirtualHere to forward the USB device itself directly, then the dongle is actually being used by the *Linux* xpad driver; Steam Link is parsing the controller input via that and then packaging it up to send to the host machine as generic representations of game controllers; the controller drivers on the host machine shouldn't matter.


So if you aren't forwarding the dongle, I'd be curious if you see the same issue connecting the Elite 2 controllers via Bluetooth, just for purposes of "I like to have data." I suspect you will not.

Beyond that, if you can get the streaming log for an affected session, I'd be *very* curious to see what messages are being recorded for controller connect/disconnect/enumeration.

This is all done over direct ethernet connection on my LAN.

When plugging the controllers directly into the host machines the issue /does not/ occur. I am reasonably certain that Steam is still handling the controller input in this direct-connection scenario because my controller key-binds are functional.


Also: I adore my Steam links and if this issue was resolved my wife and I would be over the moon.

*The problem only occurs when the joy-stick input is transitioning from 'no-input' to some directional input.

When the issue gets better/worse:
*If the joystick is moved very slowly from the neutral position then the issue does not seem to occur or is otherwise imperceptible.
*Fast joy-stick movements, like if your were to flick the joystick in some direction, can cause the cursor to teleport clear across the screen.

Affected devices:
*I have 4 of these controllers and they all have this issue.
*I have 2 steam-links and they both have this issue
*I use my steam-links to control both a windows 10 and Linux machine and the problem occurs on both.

Both controllers are 8bitDo wired ultimate 2c. Tried a factory reset on the steam link, tried changing all of my settings to get the fastest/smoothest video possible and no dice.

This sounds like networking issues. Can you post a link to the Steam logs\streaming_log.txt from the host PC?

I seem to have 150-200ms input lag from my xbox one controller to anything running through steamlink. My host is a beefy machine and my network tests are clearing 75mbits without any issues (Great connection), but whenever i run anything through steamlink to the host the host is getting this latency, even wtih a simple "button binding tester" webpage and such.
or some sort of setting i've missed that could be adding latency? I did disable steam input on the controllers because i asumed that may have been a contributor.
