Game "The council" also thinks the controller is a playstation controller via steam link, but not when the gamepad is connected directly to the host stream pc
I've tried completely disabling the overlay in the Steam Link settings, and while the overlay no longer pops up, the button itself is still not registered in any game. An additional bug is that Steam Link allows me to set the Guide button to the overlay, however it seems tvOS hijacks that button to mirror functions of the remote's home button.

Games such as Star Wars: Jedi Outcast (to access the map), Cult of the Lamb (access inventory and complete the intro tutorial), In Sound Mind (listen to audio recordings), etc are examples of where this functionality is required to either progress at all or access important features.
Jackpot! I've tried this combo a few times over the last few weeks and it just didn't seem to work for me. After reading your message, I went back to try it again and sure enough, it still didn't work. Out of frustration, I started smashing the two in Fallen Order when suddenly, the game's map popped up on my screen. So there's something to this and after some quick trial and error, I figure out "the trick".
The two buttons pushed together as if it is a key combo won't work. Instead, the View button needs to be quickly pressed, and and THEN the B button needs to be tapped right after that. Once I figured out the timing (and mentally saying "tap, tap"), I've been able to get it to work in both Fallen Order and Cult of the Lamb just fine.
Maybe this is documented somewhere, but I haven't seen it. Really annoying it took this long to figure out, but damn happy to get back to playing.
Interesting. Sounds like Dead key[en.wikipedia.org] behaviour. I noticed the small delay between pressing the View button and the steam overlay opening. Makes sense now, seeing that it seems to wait for an optional secondary button press. I just tested with Witcher and it indeed works. Thanks to you two. Would still be interesting to know if that's intentional.
You have to get the timing right. Took me a few tries, but now it is muscle memory.
Pretty silly if you ask me...
Any word from the devs if this will be fixed in a future update?
This works, they should really make a prompt for this when select button is pressed (just like the hold select prompt), or at least mention it in the settings menu or guide
