Apple TV Steam Overlay

How do I access the steam overlay on Apple TV since the guide button on my Xbox One controller sends me to the Control Center on tvOS 14?

My steam controllers guide button works fine, and loads the overlay but not the Xbox One controller.

I've tried holding start and the back button to no success. Holding start or back doesn't bring up the controller overlay either. I also tried changing it in the remote play settings to have holding Y open up the overlay but that didn't work either.

Same deal here, Xbox button opens the tvOS control centre instead of the steam overlay. Any way to change or fix this?

The guide button is bound to Apple TV‘s control overlay so you have to do the following workaround:
While streaming press and hold „Back“ button to open streaming overlay, choose the xbox virtual controller symbol (on the mid-left). Then you can press the virtual guide button by pressing A when highlighted. Press B multiple times to exit virtual controller.
You also have to use this workaround if you want to use button chords.

Found this thread of other folks tracking this issue. It would be cool to override tvOS’s mapping of the guide button.

I like to think that a lot of users play with their Apple TV remotes by their side. No need for the guide button to quit the game

My solution: if you have an Xbox series x controller with a share button, use the steam-link app's inbuilt controller "Setup Controller" feature to remap the guide button to the share button. The tool is a bit confusing, pressing "A" skips a key (can't remap A?), so just skip with A until and after the guide button mapping.

Sorry to bring back a dead thread, but is there any solution to this problem for those who have Xbox controllers with no Share buttons?

I have checked the two relevant Reddit threads and two threads on this forum, but the medium press solution doesn’t work and I’ve had no success with button chords.

THANK YOU! Re-mapping using this method worked perfectly! You can use the Apple TV remote to skip any buttons that your controller doesn't support.
