MAC Ambrosia Audio Support install "Registering updated components..." Not Finishing

I wanted to try out the remote play feature of some of the games I owned through Steamlink and Steam prompted me to download Ambrosia Audio Support. It was going well until it got to a stage, "Registering updated components...," which it has frozen on. I left it alone for hours to see if it was just taking a while, but It's simply not going to finish.

I've seen other posts of people who had this problem, and ended up with a black screen upon attempted shutdown.

I am on OS High Sierra Version 10.13.6
Any help would be greatly appreciated,
