Steam Link

Steam Link

Steam Link on iOS, connects, good connection, screen never updates, but i have sound. Even see a static Big Screen!
Has anyone had issues with streaming with the iOS ap on their own home wifi network? I have something like 50 mbps when i did a network test, but I can't get any updates to the screen. I can click on the buttons in big screen, hear the sound effects, but the screen never updates.

I am not sure if there might be a setting on the PC causing this or a network issue not detected by the network test. Any advice?

Same. The iPad screen refreshes a frame for tens of seconds. But the touch screen control operation can be immediately reflected on the computer.

For me it was fixed by unchecking Intel Hardware encoding to force Nvidia hardware encoding

Alright! Thanks to you and JlnPrnssnr i got it!

I needed to change the host options on my computer. In-home Steaming. Works like a champ. Time to try out Stellaris and some games.

Thank you so much! This was driving me crazy! Steam Mac had no problem, but Steam Windows (on the same computer) did not work!

I will also go ahead and add here that I only had to turn off Nvidia and Intel hardware encoding, leaving the AMD option on. I'm on a MacBook Pro 13" 2016 with an AMD RX 580 in an eGPU enclosure, so I'm assuming here that hardware encoding is a benefit I'd rather preserve, and I'm guessing disabling the Intel hardware encoding was what made the difference.

As of today this problem is resolved in the latest version of the Steam Link app for iOS. You can re-enable hardware encoding if you had previously enabled it.

One of many Solutions!
MacBook Pro TO Steamlink on iPhone 2020 SE (also tested with iPhone 12) both worked.

I tried all the above answers and more on Redit and Google and nothing worked.... UNTILL I toggled one setting on my MacBook Pro laptop. Go to Launchpad -> System Preferences (looks like the "Settings" app on your phone) -> Click the "Privacy" tab to get to your privacy settings. And look for the "Screen Recording" setting (at the time of writing this, it looks like a "target" over a red background. From there you need to Allow Steam to record your screen.

In retro spec this makes complete sense, obviously steam needs to record your screen to send/"stream" the image to your iPhone or other device.

I have been searching for days to find a solution and this was it! Thank you so much!
