Steam Link

Phantom Mouse Appears when Overcooked 2 (or even monster hunter) is Launched, causing Controller Mayhem
I am at my wits end, don't know how to fix this. Hope someone has some insights.

I am running steamlink on a 3b+, using ps3 controllers connected to the 3b+. I can connect to my pc fine, the steam interface everything works fine, controller working, but as soon as I launch the game...

a mouse cursor appears in the top left quadrant of the screen, and i can see it stuttering (as in it micro moves consistently in position). I believe the game i am trying to play (overcooked 2) detects that cursor movement, so i cant select anything/extremely hard to select anything with the D pad. I can actually move the cursor with my controllers thumb sticks, but it will only move within the confines of a square, and as soon as I stop input on the thumb stick it will go back to its original location. The same thing happens when I move the mouse connected to my PC, cannot move outside this weird square and will default back.

I have tried running steam as administrator, configuring the controller such that both thumb sticks are disabled, turning off my computer mouse, and unplugging the keyboard that I have connected to the pi. I use scptoolkit on my pc for the ps3 controllers and I turned it off (or left it on) while trying steam link, neither causes any change. i have playstation, xbox, and generic controller support turned on in steam.

the controller works exactly as expected in big picture mode, moving the thumb stick causes a cursor to show up and it disappears when i press the D-pad. When the game launches though, the cursor pops up and never goes away; it keeps stuttering, sending commands to the game and making it unplayable. What is causing this and how do I fix this? Are my thumbsticks faulty? If they are, why would turning the thumb sticks off in controller config not fix it?

I have tried overriding high dpi settings (desktop runs 4k, TV is 1080p). Not happening. I also tried launching overcooked 2 then starting steamlink, the weird cursor issue happens again.

thanks in advance for any help.

Interesting, this is the same issue I have but with an XBox One controller as detailed here: https://steamcommunity.com/app/353380/discussions/6/4540134453706814827/

How is your PS3 controller connected to the Pi? Does this issue pop up on the screen before you connect to a computer? Are you launching Steamlink via the desktop or via the command line?

the ps3 controller is connected through usb, not wireless. i dont understand what you mean by before i connect to a computer? how does steamlink work without connecting to a computer?

if i launch overcooked on the computer, everything is fine. as soon as i turn on steamlink from the pi with overcooked still running on computer, the cursor issue happens.

alternatively, if i launch steamlink on pi (i have steamlink launcher within osmc), the big picture mode seems to behave fine (as big picture hides the cursor anyways). when i launch any game though, it seems like the cursor will show up.

i launch steamlink from pi, i am assuming its command line that the launcher does it through.

Hey Revival,

I have the exact same problem with the same setup.

Host : Win 10 PC
Client : Raspberry Pi 3B+ on OSMC
I also launch the steam link using the steam link launcher.
Controller : 2 bluetooth PS3 controller
Screen : HDMI panasonic TV

Everything seems to work perfectly on the steam link. Once I connect to the PC, the left stick moves an arrow inside a small rectangle about 1/8 of the screen. Impossible to navigate in big picture mode with stick but works fine with arrow. When I launch a game, there is an arrow moving inside the same rectangle of an 8th of the screen. If the game uses kb and mouse input, I get double input from controller AND mouse with the stick which makes the game unplayable.

It works fine with Fifa 18 even through I can see an arrow per controller moving inside a small rectangle. I guess it works because I can choose not to use KB + Mouse as a player control.

Works kind of OK in human fall flat.

Unplayable in Life is Strange.

I turned off all the controlls in desktop mode. Removed all mouse input in big picture mode and chord mode, tried with and without PS controller support and it doesn't change anything. I always see an arrow moving.

The controllers work perfectly when connected directly to the host but it is too far from my TV.

It works fine using the controller pluged in the pie with the free version of Virtualhere but it isn't ideal.

Isn't there a way to turn mouse input completely Off ?!

I will try if I get the same result in Raspbian and report here...
