Steam Link Raspberry Pi "Connecting..." forever
Hello! I have installed Steam Link on my RPi 3B, and both my PCs with Steam running are found. However, I can not connect. When I select a PC to connect to, it remains on the "Connecting..." screen for 5 minutes or so until it says that it could not connect, providing no further error messages. However, my ssh provides the following output from when I start steamlink and until it gets stuck at "Connecting...":

^Cpi@raspberrypi:~ $ steamlink Unable to query physical screen size, defaulting to 100 dpi. To override, set QT_QPA_EGLFS_PHYSICAL_WIDTH and QT_QPA_EGLFS_PHYSICAL_HEIGHT (i n millimeters). Has anyone had this issue before and knows how to fix this? Thank you so much for your time and attention!

It should have been able to open these files simply by installing it? I thought maybe I had to create these files in some other step... I will try to reinstall and report back.

I am running Raspbian Lite (headless), if that matters.

So I verified that it is my Pi that has issues as my phone can connect to both PCs using the Steam Link app.

Further, I tried to run
sudo apt purge steamlink sudo reboot sudo apt update sudo apt upgrade sudo apt install steamlink sudo apt install zenity
on my Pi but I still get the same error messages. I navigated into the directories listed by "INFO:" and none of the files exist. I assume this is because these files will be created when I use Steam Link to create some non-default settings. If my assumption is not correct, could it be that some permissions settings are the issue? I am relatively new to Linux and find it hard to judge.

I followed the guide here to get Steamlink on my headless Pi: https://pimylifeup.com/raspberry-pi-steam-link/ (except I did not use VNC as I have the Pi connected to my TV through HDMI)

I am considering using another sd-card I have lying around to boot Raspbian with GUI (i.e. non-headless) and install Steam Link from there and see if I have the same error messages, even with a fresh install.

Sorry, that is my mistake! I come from many years of Windows and attempted to copy by "Ctrl+C" which instead writes "^V" into the shell. I seemingly did not remove this from the code snippets above. Since you have pointed it out, I will let it remain there.

I am using Raspbian Stretch headless. I am not using OSMC or Kodi, but I have Samba and MiniDLNA running if that could be relevant?

Could it perhaps help if I install some X-11 thing? I do get the GUI of Steam Link up and running, just the connecting part gives no useful error messages...

Flashing another SD card as of writing. Will see if it works better in ~15 minutes with a fresh install of Raspbian Buster with Desktop.

I thought Linux was going to be super friiendly with regards to getting usful error messages, but this has been really bad so far. :( Hope I don't have to do a fresh install and setup all my torrenting and media stuff again, takes a while.

It works on the fresh install Raspbian Buster with Desktop. That's very good! Cumbersome to switch cards every time, though... Maybe I'll try fresh install Raspbian Stretch headless and see if that works as well.

Also, is it possible to pair ps3 controller via Bluetooth? I see online that Steam Link dedicated hardware does so easily, but no idea about Pi....
