Raspberry Pi 4 only detects 100MB/s speeds
Hi,

I had 100Mb/s speeds detected on my Raspberry Pi 3B+ so bought a 4 as it has Gigabit ethernet.

I've run an isolated test - the gaming PC and the Pi 4 connected to a Gigabit switch.

But the speed test still only returns a 100Mb/s speed and gameplay is still choppy on the Pi.

Is there anything I can do to increase speed?

Shouldn't it be Gigabit?

The gaming PC and the Pi are both reporting Gigabit connections.

100MBit is max for steam streaming. If it's choppy, enable the performance overlay and play with the host encoding options and the quality presets on the Link

Thanks - I'm using a Pi and I haven't seen those options - please could you let me know where they are?

In the Link app, before selecting the Pc, there are settings for bandwidth cap and fast- balanced-beautiful presets. In Steam on the PC, if you go to options in the top left corner, there are settings for the host encoding method.

Thanks for this.

I've found all the options - the balanced option in the host matches that on the client.

Interestingly in the performance overlay the network usage rarely gets over around 75Mb/s and the frame rate stays a fraction below 60FPS.

I have the Pi next to the gaming PC for testing so can see both screens when playing.

There's a lot of tearing on the gaming PC - is this normal? There's none when I play the game on the gaming PC.

Performance is pretty good on the Pi4 - as it was on the Pi3 but every 5 seconds or so I get a bit of a stutter.

Is that occasional stutter something that I'll just have to live with?

Thanks - that fix completely sorted the micro stutter.

Very much appreciate your help.

Turns out it works pretty much just as well on the Pi3.
