Even if not 'supported', I've had no trouble installing the steam link app. I stream at 4k and the performance is generally great (total latency < 30ms). I've purchased several verizon stream tv devices from ebay (approx $30) and had no problems (they work even if you don't have verizon and verizon is still updating the firmware on all of my devices). I've only used amlogic devices so ymmv, but the S905x4 is a very solid performer. The walmart 0nn 4k box also works well.
They all support bluetooth so you can pair any (probably) bluetooth controller. However, Android controller support is a little wonky pre v.11 so you should look for something 11+.
