You should be able to bind function keys to the macro keys for the touch controller, though, and then put those newly-made function key buttons on-screen for easy use.
Oh! Sorry, I misunderstood; I thought you meant the Android touch keyboard, not the Steam on-screen keyboard. Never mind.
That said, I do believe you can actually have touch controls on and a secondary controller, though, so you could theoretically use the macro buttons still. You'd pick the touch controller as the controller in the Steam Link shell, keep your other controller connected, and assign the second controller as Controller 1 in Steam if you needed to.
