Steam App Crashes when connecting to Computer

Hey all,

I'm having an issue where the Steam App on my Android TV will just randomly crash when attempting to connect to my PC. The setup worked fine and I was able to perform network tests between the two but when I attempt to connect to the PC, the screen goes black, Steam Logo appears and the process restarts itself again each time I try to connect.

Any idea what could be causing this?

As a side note, my PC displays the blue spinning circle for 1-3 seconds after attempting to connect, nothing happens on Steam on my desktop.

This is all that appears in the streaming log (replaced device IP address), despite both the TV and PC having full network connectivity and having performed multiple network tests fine:

Any ideas?

Same here, got Fritzbox 7490 5Ghz Network and Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge on Android 7.0. Streaming with my Hardware-SteamLink works fine, but the App-SteamLink crashes everytime i try to connect to the Host-PC.

Yep same, hardware Steam Link has no issues, software one on the TV wont even work.

Shame, I was looking forward to using the Steam Link elsewhere in my house and get rid of some wires in the process!

Try going to the "Steam Menu->Settings->In-Home Streaming->Advanced Host Options" and see if toggling the "Enable hardware encoding" option helps you. It did for me with the Steam Link app for my android phone. Found out I could use the Intel iGPU option ONLY for stream encoding because I have a dedicated AMD GPU.

This worked for me also! Thank you kind Sir! I had to deactivate Hardware encoding!
