Big picture mode broke remote play
I've been playing remotely from work on my phone for a bit over a month at this point; although the latest update seems to have caused some issue as I've been unable to connect the last few days.

Over past 35 mins I been fiddling with this, I can get it to pull up big picture mode consistantly, but since the app has never allowed me to connect while BIg Picture Mode is active, I can't connect, and it seems like the latest update makes it really really want BPM open before it connects, thus causing the issue.
Atleast that's my best guess.
Hope they fix it, I greatly enjoyed playing games at work (I work night shift, so dull).

And here's a link from 2013 about people being upset over how broken BPM is, and how it needs an option to disable it..

And thatd just the oldest of a ton of pages of people complaining about how buggy it isn so I'm guessing that there's nothing I can do to fix it on my end, considering Valve seems to have some moral opposition to us controlling which UI we use, so I've made this post.

Note: I disabled the controller configuration which causes the BP overlay to pop up when you press the home button. That wasn't relevant to my issue but gonna add that before someone suggests it anyways.

Update: to clarify, steamlink connects to my PC. It launches BPM. Then, as it always has, my phone is a black screen- both my phone and PC believe everything is hunky dory, and it does not crash, but the screen remains black. Previously I could connect to my PC with Chrome Remote Dekstop, exit BPM, relaunch steamlink and play, which no longer works.

Update: today I managed to connect it. Crashed when launching a game. Checked in remote desktop, it had a pop up asking if steam can make changes, clicked yes, closed game and tried again. Keep getting "steam cannot connect to relay" followed by an IP address.
So that's a thing.

Sweet! Found a fix, it seems. In the app, you can go to advanced settings to enable "stream desktop on startup" which will cause big picture mode to *not* pop up.

I was able to start up a game, as well, so it looks like it's good. Will test some more tonight, but if no further posts appear presume it fixed.
