Samsung TV Q80T Steam Link App + Switch Pro Controller Motion Controls
Hello all,

After struggling and tinkering a lot with the Steam Link app for the Samsung Q80T TV I've got it working somehow and it's streaming games pretty well.

Just finished Resident Evil 7 with all graphic settings on high at 4K resolution. Played entirely through the Steam Link app using an 8 BIt Do SF30 Pro Controller as an Xbox Controller.

There was an issue with this setup by the way, I needed to do the controller pairing with the TV all over from start every time after the TV was turned off, otherwise the controller wouldn't be recognized by Steam. Using the 8 Bit Do dongle works way better than pairing with the TV and simplified the process tough.

Anyway, I wanted to play RE:7 again at the Madhouse difficulty and this is where other problem began.
I'm really bad at aiming just with the right thumb stick, but I've had good experiences playing shooter games in the Nintendo Switch using the motion controls.
So I tried to pair both my Switch Pro Controller and the 8 Bit Do controller at Switch mode.
When pairing through bluetooth, they won't be recognized. Steam identify them as "Unknown Controllers" and will eventually lose connection.

Connecting them with the cable kinda works, except for the rumble, and they are recognized as Pro Controllers. However, when moving the right analog stick, it seems that inputs are not consumed by the Steam Link but by the TV, making the TV menu appearing and eventually destroying all the experience, sometimes even other apps are opened.

Tried multiple configurations, doesn't seem to be an input binding issue, but a problem with the fact that the controllers are in the Switch Pro Controller mode running on Steam Link App.

Works flawlessly when connected to the Desktop PC without the Steam Link.

Will we ever get an update for Steam Link App that works with the Switch Controllers? Are there any other gyro controllers that can be used in the meantime?

Motion controls are a thing now, and it's really bad that we can't have this feature. These TVs are not cheap, and it will really be a letdown if we don't get proper support.

If it worked only with wired, I would get a longer cable and be happy with it. But there's still this input conflict thing when using controllers in Switch Pro Controller mode...

Thanks for your attention, regards.

EDIT:

For some reason the Nintendo Switch Pro Controller now has the blue LED lit when wired connected to Steam Link (doesn't work just wired connected to the TV without Steam Link) and rumble is working.
But the problem persists, and it's definitely not an input binding issue.
Tried to clear all control schemes when on Big Picture and in game, moving the right analog stick still makes the TV consumes the input rather than Steam only (it also does), causing all sort of weird behaviors. Menu popping up like crazy and eventually opening another app, switching from Steam Link.

Sad... if this odd TV input conflict is fixed then it would be flawless and I could play all shooter games with motion controls, even if it's just wired connected for now.

In the end, the solution was to buy a bluetooth dongle and a USB extension cable.
Connecting the Pro Controller directly with Windows works absolutely fine, and I was able to finish Doom Eternal and start playing RE: Village with motion controls.
Didn't notice any harmful input lag or issues, and Doom is a fast paced game.

But I still wish it would work directly with the TV. I was lucky that my computer is in a room next to the living room, and the 2 meters USB extension cable was enough.
