can't change TV volume on Samsung Smart TV

It was so happy to found out I could use my Samsung MU8009 TV for Steam Link instead of the hardware. It works great, except...

I can't change the volume!!!

A popup alerts when SteamLink starts that the TV controller will not work during streaming. And it's true, you basically can't do anything, just move the cursor and turn off the TV.

This limitation is a total bummer and I sadly had to go back to my SteamLink hardware.

Is there any known workaround for this?

I have the UE43MU6102K and i used to have quite the same prob. I updated my tv + steam link app to the latest fw and everything is ok.

I have the latest version of TV firmware (1240) and that does not seem to help. Should I report to Samsung?

The Steam App Link is also updated to the most recent version

My latest tv version is 1250.5 (2018-11-28)

Didn't know there was 1250.5 out. My TV refused to update more, so went to the website, downloaded the firmware, and updated via USB. But even with 1250.5, the volume control still does not work. Bummer. Which Steam Link app version do you have?

I am on 1.7.37 (published on 2018.05.02)

But if i go to the Samsung App Store it says that i have the 1.7.38 (published on 2018.06.27). Weird

try to uninstall and install the app again through the samsung store

So i guess this a TV software related thing. You should talk to your tv's support center team (live chat, email) and push them to publish a new fw update.

When I bought my TV , I didn't know the Steam link app was available , Maybe I wouldn't careeven if I did . The first time I tryed the app connected using my wi-fi connection , I was surprised with the quality even with my bad connection speed , even though it was impossible to play . And start to wonder what I could get using a Lan cable . So a did. It was unbelievable . Its hard to describe how good it is. Actually it come in hand because that was exactly what I needed to play my games at the living room since now I am with a little kid , its hard to stay at the computer while he is playng with his toys . I would never trust it if I've neveer seen with my eyes. Thats the reason I never wanted a steam link either. But I dont know why Im saying this.
My issue is that I also cant change de volume. I cant see a reason why the TV remote control stop the functions but one of the greatest let down is the fact that Xbox one wireless controller dont work , Well . Sorry for bad english. Not my main!

Bump. This issue is really annoying and seems like an easy fix. I can't update past 1.63 version of the app. Valve needs to release a fix for these models that didn't get the firmware. Don't lock my tv remote. Why would you do that anyway?
