Any solutions to xbox oneS controllers and samsung TV pairing? (steamlink app not device)
Got the steam link app on my Samsung TV, and it's working great using the old xbox 360 controller. However I can't pair the app/tv with an xbox one S controller by bluetooth. Has anyone else ran into this issue?

it does work so keep trying. Pair with PC first though to test it

I had an idea and it works. I just link my xbox BT controller with my smartphone and connect it via steamlink dissabling video and audio. So, use the TV for the streamming and the mobile for the controller. ;)

I thought that might be possible when I first saw the buttons to choose to show audio, video or send input on the smartphone app, but that time didn't work, i'll give that another try.

What model TV? Does it even have bluetooth? My 2018 Samsung NU7472 paired/connected with bluetooth just fine & worked like a charm. But when the controller automatically turns off then i had to connect/pair again in the settings, it didn't automatically reconnect with the tv sadly.

My XBox One Bluetooth controller actually easily pairs with my 2018 Q8FN using the TVs native bluetooth. It just doesn't work at all with the Steam Link app while paired to the TV. I got it to partially interact with the Steam Link app initially but it was misinterpreting what it was receiving from the controller. That just isn't an option.

I know this is an older thread, but I'm totally stumped. I have a Samsung NU8000, and I've been able to connect an Xbox One controller to it via Bluetooth, but it has the same issues others have had where it's haywire and doesn't work right at all. I bought an 8BitDo receiver, flashed the latest firmware, and paired it with my controller on my PC. However on both my PC and TV using the Steamlink App, I'm having issues. On my PC, I have to go manually configure all the buttons on steam big picture mode, and I can't map the control sticks for whatever reason. As far as the Steamlink app on my TV goes, the TV recognizes that there's a controller and I can parse through the menus, but when the steam link app loads up it doesn't recognize that there's a controller connected. Anyone have any familiarity with this?

Xbox One controllers aren't supported for Steam Link app. Make sure you are connecting to your 8BitDo and not your TV, by pairing it properly via PC first

Has anyone tested the 8Bitdo adapter on a Samsung TV with controllers not listed in the official support list? I'd like to get this working with a PS4 controller if possible.

Source

I researched a bit before buying, so seems that PS4 is indeed supported, PS3 too however it's more tricky.

How do you pair it to the receiver, do you have to put the receiver and the controller in pairing mode next to each other or do you plug it in and pair to the controller using the TVs bluetooth menu

Well, if you have the 8Bitdo I recommend to follow the manufacturer's instruction such as updating the firmware, etc.
Beside that, it's really plug'n'play so you put the receiver on your smart TV usb, put it on pairing mode by holding the one button it has and put your controller on pair mode too.

However you mentioned that your tv has BT, in this case if you have a newer verssion of xbox one S controller you can pair wo/ the adapter.

I'm having the same issue at Grom. A resolution would be very appreciated.

With 2019 Samsung Ru7400 series, the Xbox One S controller (model 1708) paired without an external adapter. Everything works except vibration.
It disconnected only one time when there was a random connection problem with steam on pc.
I first paired the controller to pc with usb cable (I don't have bluetooth on pc) and then paired it to tv.

Hi guys sorry to open this up.

I have a Samsung TV, I believe it is 2017 (not sure) I know that the controller Xbox Bluetooth will not connect to it directly.

I bought a 8bitdo and have managed to pair it with the controller, however the only thing that I can control on the TV is the menu, just like using the TV remote control, as soon as I am in the Steam App I am unable to control anything, I have tried restarting it, inserting the 8bitdo at different times when loading the app etc... has anyone had any luck?

I bought this USB device especially for this purpose and still not working. :(

Same, did you ever solve this?

Had a very similar issue with an 8bitdo and a Wii U pro controller, solution was to change its mode by holding down select and left (on the dpad) for 3 seconds. This puts it into DInput mode I think.
