Any solutions to xbox oneS controllers and samsung TV pairing? (steamlink app not device)
Got the steam link app on my Samsung TV, and it's working great using the old xbox 360 controller. However I can't pair the app/tv with an xbox one S controller by bluetooth. Has anyone else ran into this issue?

Hi, A xbox one s gamepad can work only via USB in 2017 TV, but it can work via both USB and BT in 2018 TV.

It's a shame it works via BT on 2018 models only. Anyway I found a solution in the meantime for my 2017 model. Not promoting this product (so feel free to search for alternatives), but I bought this receiver https://www.amazon.co.uk/8Bitdo-Wireless-Bluetooth-Raspberry-Nintendo/dp/B0786JC6VW/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1527276808&sr=8-2&keywords=8bitdo+receiver after I saw someone writing about it in a different thread. I flashed the latest firmware and I got my xbox one S controller to work with my tv through BT, with the receiver plugged into the tv.

I bought this from amazon for testing. It works fine. :-)

Bad news - I have a 2018 Model UE43NU7400 and it doesn't work either. I can pair the Xbox One S with the TV via Bluetooth, and even control the Steam Link app and Big Picture but long story short it doesn't work properly with Shoulder buttons not registering and other haywire responses.

Frustrating.

Yep this works for me too! Just (1) plug into PC to update firmware (2) pair controller while plugged into PC (3) plug into TV and voila Xbox One S Bluetooth controller recognised by Steam Link (although in Steam it shows as a 360 controller).

Has anyone tested the 8Bitdo adapter on a Samsung TV with controllers not listed in the official support list? I'd like to get this working with a PS4 controller if possible.

The Samsung TV App currently supports the following controllers:

The Steam Controller
Xbox 360 Wireless/Wired
Xbox One Wired
Logitech F510 / F710

yes working with Xbox One S controller. I do get some random disconnects and issues however so I'm not 100% happy. But it's not so bad that it's infuriating...

I hope Samsung or Steam or whoever developed the app upgrades it to catch up with the main Steam Link box functionality. It's so great having it on my TV particularly with voice control so I can just say "Steam Link" into my remote.

I researched a bit before buying, so seems that PS4 is indeed supported, PS3 too however it's more tricky.

if the host pc is in range you can pair it with the pc directly

Is anyone aware if a standard BT adapter would work for this purpose?

I bought the 8bitdo receiver and I can't get it to pair with my XBox One S Bluetooth Controller, even on PC. I updated the firmware on both the receiver and my controller. I added the controller with the XBox Accessories app through wired USB. But no matter how much I try, the devices won't pair.

If I put the dongle in the TV and try to pair, the controller will vibrate and the flashing will stop, but it the controller won't get recognized anywhere while navigating Steam. Works fine if plugged into TV.

I will try again with the controller removed from the TV's settings, as I paired the controller through the TV previously.
