How to NOT use Steam Link for VR?(!)

I tried out Steam Link, and I wanted to also try out Air Link afterwards. However SteamVR was permanently locked in to connect to a wireless headset

"Awaiting Wireless Connection
SteamVR is waiting for a wireless headset to connect...
(215)"

Starting SteamVR while the Oculus App is running would cause an error like "VRApplicationError_IPCFailed".

I deleted these files:
a. C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\SteamVR\resources\settings\default.vrsettings
b. C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\config\steamvr.vrsettings
c. C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\config\lighthouse\lighthousedb.json

And verified SteamVR integrity which redownloaded 1 file. Now launching SteamVR works normally again.

There ought to be an option to TURN OFF Steam Link
