Steam Link

Steam Link

Suddenly no Audio
Last time I was using steam link was 4 May and I had a great time in VRChat

However, today when I tried there was no audio heard in my quest pro headset.
I have had zero issue since steam link was launched and have constantly used it.

I have disabled and reenabled all my sound and recording devices, I have deleted and reinstalled the audio drivers multiple times, reinstalled steam link app 3 times, tried different versions of the steam vr beta/steam client beta, reinstalled the oculus app and set the open xr to be through that instead.

None of these have worked.

I would like some suggestions that I could try when I can test again in a week when I am back at my PC cause I would really like to avoid either reinstalling everything steam related or even more drastic, reinstalling windows.

Having the same issue, suddenly at the same time. It worked perfectly fine earlier (May 8th) and now as of posting this issue occurs. Tried the same things mentioned, have also tried connecting via VirtualDesktop and QuestLink and those do not have audio issues.

the only audio device unable to push audio is the Steam Streaming speakers, it does show it receives a signal,. just not outputting audio.

It would be helpful if we could bisect this problem, and figure out which side it's on. You can use the Steam Link detailed debug window (Available in Steam VR Settings -> Toggle Advanced Settings On -> Steam Link -> Show Debug Graph), then play a youtube video or music out the Steam Streaming Speakers, and see if the middle black box at the top of the debug window shows a waveform moving around, shows a flat blue line or "NO SOUND".

according to the graph it is receiving audio and has a waveform. even switched my audio device to my main headphone output and back to the Steam Streaming speakers. only when switched off the Streaming speakers would it say no audio. its clearly receiving audio, but not correctly outputting it on the headset's side.

It should be this driver/ source specifically as I tested it with Virtual desktop, Quest Link and my Index headset. their respective audio outputs all worked fine streaming the audio, just the Steam Streaming Speakers being the issue

Through a bit more searching on my end, connecting to steam link with other systems (same VR computer to Steam Deck) the issue seems to be on the receiving end as the SteamDeck could play audio. As well as using the steamlink app on my phone, also able to playback audio. So its either a headset issues specifically or the steamlink app itself for Meta.

Last update on my part, gave up and just factory reset the quest and audio works again. quick re-set up since it just took the info from my account when i logged in again. it is definitely headset side/ app side

Having the same issue. Works fine with my Quest 2, but no audio on Pro. Also startup audio un the app. Multiple reinstalls and cache clear didnt fix anything.

Is that something you do on PC or on the Quest Pro, if so, where does one do this?

It's in experimental settings on Quest Pro but it doesn't seem to solve the problem, definitely something with v65 firmware. The audio works on PC side and can be piped to another output but on Quest Pro, the app itself seems to not have access to audio output. Switching to beta or reinstall doesn't fix it so something probably changed in v65, possibly the new external microphone options are sending the output to wrong device.

so I did the factory reset. And...ultimately it worked for a moment. Like it worked the first time. But I noticed the audio was quieter like when I first used Steam Link, I remembered I needed to reboot the headset to get it to fix the audio after running it once. When I did that, I was back to the no audio issue. So I'm assuming this issue specifically pertains to the latest firmware update v65 as Jebot said.

For now, I guess I'll be using Airlink/Quest Link
or virtual desktop

same issue

Can also confirm that everything PC side is good, and the steamlink visualization graph shows outgoing audio.. just nothing playing on the QPRO hmd.. the quest pro steamlink app needs an update. I also tried the steamlink app beta and that did not change anything.

Update: this breaks the HEADPHONE JACK. The built in qpro speakers still work - have only tested once though, will try again later and see if it works still.
