Steam Link
Steam Link VR sharpening option
Streaming to a headset results in a noticeably softer image compared to native due to video compression, even at higher bitrates. Further raising the bitrate past what Steam Link can currently support can minimize the reduction in clarity further and further but that then invokes a higher encoding and decoding latency and the requirement for a high-end network setup most do not have. This is a known issue with streaming, and one that can and should be compensated for on Steam Link. Virtual Desktop has contrast adaptive sharpening, and additionally a toggle for Snapdragon Game Super Resolution; Air Link has the, frankly, amazing Link Sharpening. Steam Link needs an equivalent, and preferably a properly executed one. The fact these headsets have SoCs capable of processing the image to boost perceived quality should not be ignored, and should be an active area of development in the VR space in my honest opinion. Of course, those who do not like the image enhancements should be able to easily toggle them off.

Steam Link really needs an equivalent setting to Virtual Desktop's "Snapdragon Super Resolution"-option. The difference in picture quality and performance is day and night on mid-range systems (5800X3D, RTX 2070 Super).
