Quest Pro is much darker via Steam Link
Everything seems darker using steam link and for me it's most noticeable in Skyrim. My specs:

12900K
RTX 4090
Quest Pro

I've seen reports from others seeing the same in Skyrim.

Same here specially in VR chat

You can try turning of backlight local dimming in your Meta Quest settings. We are investigating other possible avenues. Please let us know your experience with local dimming disabled.

the same issue on Quest 3, but there are no local dimming

What GPU do you folks use? AMD and NVIDIA use drastically different methods to encode, though they should look the same at the end, it would help us troubleshoot to know more about your host system.

Using Nvidia RTX 3080 and haven't noticed any brightness difference compared to Virtual Desktop.

I can also confirm same problem for Quest 3. My PC has RTX 2080 and i7 9700k. Its very noticeable when playing Walkabout golf in darker levels, comparing the native quest version against PCVR version using steam link.

I'm using an RTX 4090---the picture looks really dark and colors appear wrong because of it.

Turning off local dimming doesn't do anything--as a matter of fact, SteamLink forces local dimming *ON* when launched, regardless of the Quest Pro's settings.

We've noticed a few reports of issues with the "Battery Saver," can you (and others experiencing this issue) check to see if the "Battery Saver" under System Settings -> Power Settings is enabled?
Fox McCloud Dec 29, 2023 @ 8:19pm
There is no battery saver on the Quest Pro.

There's Auto Wake, Sleep Mode, and display off.
DKGame Dec 31, 2023 @ 10:14pm
Battery saver was off on my quest 3.

Was wondering if there's a gamma correction option for encode? Might help here

Anything new about it?
Same issues with Meta Quest 3. Some Games are nearly unplayable, like Half Life Alyx. A lot of Items can't be seen in the Dark, its all pitch black.
No battery saver here, using NVIDIA 3080.
How about a slider for changing over all brightness?

I can't even see in hitman VR mode with the quest 3. It looks amazing on my screen but it's so dark on my headset I can't even see people standing nearby.

Has anyone figured this out? This is such a huge bummer. I had the OG quest back in the day and it worked so well with steam VR. Now it's basically unusable between the random massive lag spikes and slightly dark environments being impossible to work through on VR headsets

If you think things are too dark try increasing the brightness slider on the Quest home quick settings. I've found this carries over well into PCVR. This will probably only help if you had already reduced the brightness slider below 100%.

Yep. Same. I think the colors start looking correct if you add 7 or 8% to broghtness in OVR settings on Q3 as well as Qpro.....
