Steam VR keeps crashing: EOS Frame never finished encoding

As the title says. This seems to happen usually while I'm in the Steam pop-up screen.

Keeps happening to me as well. If I'm in an app (VRChat) and I switch to Steam VR to view my desktop, it will occasionally crash with a "The VRLink Driver encountered a fatal error: [EOS] EOS Frame never finished encoding..." message. Steam Link has a lot of catching up to do with the (mostly) reliable Virtual Desktop.

Nope you dont.
i got this error aswell , idk yet how to fix it...
Happens mostly when i switched worlds in VRChat

Got it as well, I suspect the stream dies when the CPU gets hammered. Same thing also happens on Virtual Desktop, just Virtual Desktop is able to recover instead of crashing by going into the VD overlay and back in VR. Symptom is the same, the stream dies and you can hear a loop of the last few seconds of audio. (Quest 2 and 3)

Same issue here, though my error code is all zeros then 1030, but the same message. It only happens occasionally.

Hi folks, this definitely shouldn't be happening. If one or more of you could reproduce the error and then if you can create a SteamVR System Report while its still running and send it to me that would be very helpful.

If you can't create a system report while that dialog is up just zip up your logs folder and send that instead (C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\logs). I submitted a ticket as instructed. I cannot create a report as the SteamVR window in desktop gets unresponsive during the crash. I cannot attach zip files, so I provided a link where the zip can be downloaded.

I got it too when i was playing half life alyx from the steam link on oculus app

Yep, I believe any overlay makes it more likely to happen, especially the SteamVR own overlay. For me it also happens on VD, but it recoverable by switching to VD Overlay and then back into the game.

I also keep getting this error almost everytime I load a new area or load a save file in half life alyx which makes dying even less fun since I have to restart steam vr any update on this? I had this error before occasionally but since the last two days I get it waaaay more
