microphone is extremely quiet

i'm trying to use steam link with my quest 2, however the microphone is extremely quiet and people who i talk to on discord can barely hear me

Just to rule out the basics, have you double checked that the microphone volume slider in SteamVR is set to the maximum? The microphone volume for the Steam Streaming Microphone in Windows settings would control the same thing if that's easier to check.

I had this issue too and the issue was the microphone device added by Steam Link has its volume set to 50% by default in windows. If you go to your windows control panel and turn up the device volume to 100% it works fine (and is actually slightly louder than regular link). This solved the issue for myself and another friend with the same issue.

for me it is 100% and it is still quiet to friends

I had to keep enabling and disabling it in the specific system window this guy was in, NOT in the "Sound" window that has input, output, and windows sounds

thanks for the video. seen it before but I thought I already did this. turned out: I did not.

i had to boost/choose my mic in steam link on quest 3, then also on the PC in Steam->Settings->Voice.

Also I enabled the 2 other steam virtual things (one is mixer, the other I forgot) in device manager... now it seems to work.

voice is double boosted.
