Computer Not Found
I am getting the computer not found error when trying to connect to my PC. I was having this issue last night but I thought I it got sorted because my computer appeared today and I was abled to connect to it just fine, but after restarting the headset it could not find my PC anymore, and I did not change any setting. I have tried everything on the steam trouobleshooting, disabling any VPN, disabling firewall, setting internet to private, enabling remote play, etc. I imagine it is an issue with my PC because I cannot connect to my computer with Oculus Air Link or Virtual Desktop, and my brother's laptop showed up instead of mine last.

Do you see different behavior if you start SteamVR first, then connect to your host PC? Note that this should not be required, but just as a troubleshooting step to help us diagnose.

I'm having the same issue. I can't figure out what causes it.
Up until now I basically just reinstalled the steam link app on the meta quest and then went through the getting started again and then it would detect the computer and I would need to re-pair it.
Now that doesn't work anymore though. By comparison I can remote play via the steam deck on the same network to my computer just fine. The steam link app just doesn't find it for whatever reason.
Launching SteamVR first makes no difference to me at least

1. Please let us know what router you are using and how it is configured / how your PC is connected to it.

2. Steam Link when 2D streaming is permitted to route across networks which may differ by subnet or are on different broadcast domains, whereas Steam Link when in VR mode cannot.

3. Do you see the computer on your network as well? Or not?

In general: Since the original post - we've found several causes that users have been snagged by and updated our FAQ here: https://help.steampowered.com/en/faqs/view/0E2C-406B-9135-38A4 under "Troubleshooting" -> "If you cannot connect try" - please let us know if any of the solutions listed there work or if you find another solution.

Hey, my issue is likely a bit diff, but I am trying to use the backbone and I wanted to play my games from steam instead of my husband's PS5. I have Remote Play enabled in Steam, Steam Link app installed on iPhone, When I try to connect it will not go through. I try manually pairing with the code and then nada. It will bring up the name of my PC, so it semi recognizes it but never fully connects. Any ideas on how else I can try to use the Backbone to play by Steam games? Thanks :)

I’ve also been experiencing this issue. I recently was gifted a VR ready computer for Christmas and decided to give the Steam Link app a try for the Quest 2. It seemed to be working fine for the first day or so but then suddenly 19/20 times I try to connect to my computer, my headset cannot find my computer and I am forced to restart everything and try again later. I’ve also tried all of the troubleshooting steps and re installing the Steam Link app countless times but nothing seems to work. I also tried switching over to the oculus air link software to see if it would work but it suddenly had the same issue as Steam Link where most of the time it doesn’t recognize my computer on the network. This frustrates me be when it does work it works flawlessly and I really enjoy playing PCVR games, but this issue seemed to come out of nowhere without me changing any settings.

There are a few changes in the new Public Beta Client that may help, please give this a shot by following the instructions at the bottom of this post: https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/250820/view/3884982211424067312?l=english and let us know if it more reliably finds your PC.
