Steam Link

Kodi - Krypton (17.0)
Test Stage: Plays some videos over DLNA on my network. I haven't tested any plugins.

Built this today, copy kodi.tgz to a FAT32 formatted USB drive into X:\steamlink\apps folder where X is your USB drive letter. /mnt/usb/steamlink/apps if you're in Linux with your drive mounted to /mnt/usb.

Insert the USB Drive into the SteamLink and power cycle to install Kodi. Once it boots back up to the SteamLink Interface and you see Kodi, it is safe to remove the USB drive.

It seems to play most videos. Some of my MKV videos dont play(sound, no video), but the UI seems snappier than v16.1.

If you have any questions, suggestions, or want to discuss this, Thanks go to slouken for his source example on Github.

Kodi Krypton v17.0[dl.dropboxusercontent.com] for Steam Link

Edit: I'm getting a lot of crashes when playing HD videos and after stopping youtube videos.

Tried it today. Seems to be working decently. It freezed only once, but the main problem for me is it's having troubles supporting my 5.1 system. My steamlink is connected to my amplifier, and has no troubles playing 5.1 usually. If I set 5.1 in Kodi's audio option, the right speaker (!!) plays as central, and the other ones sometime don't play at all. Setting 2.0 audio, it seems to work, but it's a real pity.

Awesome news. Gonna give this a go now!

I compiled my own, configured generic settings and watched some video on YouTube, then I quit. Next time I started it up, it won't load and crashed to Link's menu.

I also tried Jarvis before Krypton and had different issues with it too. My overall experience with XBMC/Kodi has always been very bad and each new release adds chaos instead of bug fixing.

Mame4all, on the contrary, does work like a charm.

Isengard has been the branch Ive used for the longest time. Seems the most stable for me. I just havent built it for SteamLink yet.

I'm not in the mood to try it now, do you have any intention to build it for Steam Link? Also, someone here can tell what's been the first Kodi Release tested with the Link?

Ah, btw, forgot to say that the Steam controller doesn't seem to work with this, but the XBox controller does. Apart from the problem with 5.1 audio, seems to work quite well: for instance, I have installed Twitch and Stream on Demand and it can stream quite well

EDIT: I can't find the PVR Simple Client, which is usually installed along with Kodi, and it's really useful to look at streaming TVs

If I could get the steam controller to work it would be the perfect built for me.
Anyone any idea?

Regarding the pvr.iptvsimple addon.. it's really strange it's missing, since it's also one of the most used ones. Did you take it out for compile reasons or there's some other reason it's missing? Didn't install Krypton on my PC, but reading around it should be there too..

I have installed Kodi from Windows Store and PVR IPTV Simple Client is there but it says it's unstable and doesn't work for me. When I go to the channel list it's empty.

Did you configure the addon? You have to click "configure" and insert a source in the filed "URL Playlist M3U". For example http://www.pandasat.info/iptv/kodi

..anyway, even if unstable, it appears on windows. Why it does not here?

I'll give my build another try soon and will let you know if it's there or not.

OK, PVR IPTV Simple Client is not on Kodi Krypton for Link.
