Steam Link

Steam Link

A Question
Hey, so I'm looking at getting a PC Cloud gaming device because budget limitations, and I need some clarification. As long as I've got Steam booted up on my laptop, I can stream any game I've bought, right? Like, I don't need to have the game booted up on my laptop, do I? Because if so, then a great many options have opened up to me...

Steam Link isn't a cloud gaming solution; it requires you to have a device running the game in order to stream it to another device. If you're using Steam Link / Remote Play then the game needs to run full screen on your source device, as well as the device you're streaming to. In other words, if your laptop is your gaming PC, then playing a game on the gaming device will also occupy your laptop. You will not be able to multi-task on the laptop in any way that you couldn't without the additional gaming device.

If you're using some other Cloud streaming service (Geforce Now, Amazon Luna, etc.) then you'll be able to game on the device while also using your laptop for other things, but your ability to stream games you've already bought will depend on how any given Cloud streaming service works.
