Apartment Connection

So I live in a college apartment just off campus. We have pretty good internet, considering I use an ethernet cable most of the time. Just got the steam link and was super excited until I launched steam and hooked up everything in the steam link to find that the steam link says "Cannot find any computers using steam."

Very confused about this issue. I plugged my steam link into my ethernet port in the living room, and my computer in the ethernet port in my room. Everything else works with the link, but I just can't find my computer on it. I don't know why, I have a wired connection and everything.

Please, help?
